They can join another conference that doesn't mind. They have options. He's not stopping LSU from playing these players. He's just penalizing them if they do. Completely different from the NCAA which was player specific.

The same logic applies to the players. They weren’t prohibited from playing college football, they just weren’t eligible to play NCAA football.
This is no different and people who think it is make me laugh.

Because you’re a voluntary member of the SEC and your own university president agreed to rules related to professional athleticism and agreed to abide by the rules which includes penalties for breaking league rules that your university agreed to as a member of the voluntary organization.
Pretty clean cut case. And none of the conferences colluded when making these rules. AAC is still a viable option.

No school is required to take a commitment or enroll any of these players Ryan Down syndrome.
AAC has available slots if those schools believe adding new players a week before the season is beneficial.
But no player or coonass lawyer can force a team to accept a player.

It'll all be very interesting to see how this is going to play out from a legal standpoint.
I haven't looked into it much, but I wonder if the SEC (and CFP Selection Committee) could take the position of, "Fine, these guys are eligible to play the regular season, however teams with these guys on the roster are not eligible for the postseason."
Hypothetically, would a team still proceed with signing these guys if they knew that would make the team ineligible for the postseason?
Honestly, the whole thing is pretty stupid because everyone is seeking TROs because they know the cases won't be heard until after the season. So everyone is just trying to kick the can down the road

First LSU abstained from the vote on penalties levied which was smart.
The NCAA and SEC are not exempt from antitrust laws. There is no CBA in college football that exempts them.
Any financial penalty the SEC levies on LSU for something against federal law could be recovered by LSU.
