Loser Leave Town Match--Texas A&M vs. LSU

With LSU losing at Ole Miss and A&M dropping a stunner to Kentucky at home Saturday night, but teams are coming into this game with a loss 3 weeks into the season. The playoff hopes of either team go on life support with a second consecutive loss before October.
Given how last season's campaign came unstrung with a blowout loss to A&M at home, LSU will be looking for a win here, and Kiffin is a good enough coach not to let Ole Miss beat them a second time coming off an emotional loss. If this game was in College Station, I might feel a little differently, but I think coming back home is a major plus for LSU.
Statically, the UK/A&M game was pretty close, but the difference was the turnover margin. Not only did Marcel Reed throw 2 picks, A&M went 3 of 6 on fourth down conversion attempts. Kentucky hit some big plays, and the UK offense only had 9 third downs (went 3 of 9).
LSU's front seven is legit. They allowed 426 yards against a very good Ole Miss offense, but only 63 on the ground. Even accounting for Lacy's early exit, it was an impressive performance. The backfield will be hurt by the absence of Deshawn Spears with the knee injury.
Sam Leavitt has yet to impress through the air, although he's a gamer on the ground; Leavitt had less than 160 yards passing Saturday, although he was under pressure often. Trey'Dez Green being out is a major blow--LSU has to have a WR step up. Leavitt's only pick was a big one on what was effectively the last play of the game, but it was a deflection and he avoided the INTs he had in the LaTech game. The passing game is a major question. Reed has found a reliable target in Mario Craver.
Dillin Jones is a dude. Posted up a 100+ yard night against an Ole Miss defense that had a good showing. A&M's Rueben Owens didn't break 75 against a Kentucky defense that gave up 104 to Daniel Hill the week before, but had less than 60 against Florida State. A&M's rushing offense will face its stiffest test yet.
I like LSU. They're at home, A&M seems like they've taken a step back, and I think the Aggies are going to have a much harder time running the football against LSU's front 7. I think the game will be decided by who can run the football better and turnovers, and I think those things favor LSU.

Appreciate an actual normal post. Until I see Blake Baker stop a mobile quarterback, I’m not a believer. I think this one is a coin toss.

Look, shitchop, I know you're broken, and every time you walk into Dollar General to buy a new LSU shirt without tobacco stains you're a little weepy right now. It's ok to be sad. But I recently saw an ad on tv that showed people swimming, horseback riding, and all kinds of stuff while using tampons. If they can do it, you can too!
But this is still SECRant, and for non-snowlfakes unlike yourself, it's still ok to talk about SEC football.

LSU's LBs were slow and out of place. Caleb Odom ate Whit Weeks alive in the first half in coverage. I think that's one reason LSU started blitzing them more in the 2nd half and let their secondary play man more. Ole Miss also ran well on designed runs with our RBs running at just under 5 a clip. Dottery missed several lanes. We just decided not to do it and put it in Trindad's hands.

I'll help you out. A&M has a head case for a QB-- a guy who is an athlete playing the position rather than a true QB. Good thing A&M doesn't play read option O... Reed unable to "read" defenses and throwing pick after pick is the sort of joke that writes itself.
After that, we have a first time playcaller on O. He hasn't gained trust of most of the fanbase but the question is whether he has the trust of the players, and can he put the best playmakers in the best spots. He seems lacking.
We might not be strong in the defense front 7 either, although that might change in a hurry for the better; we shall see.
This being an away night game, I suspect your head coach will have his team raring to go, and will unleash its frustrations on my Aggies team without remorse. Expect a thorough beat down. Perhaps 42-24. The line is LSU by 9.5 points, but it'll be more like two touchdowns or more. I will even predict my loser Aggies fanbase will find new and quixotic ways to reassure themselves that everything will be fine...

I disagree with this statement.
It was easy to see in his Monday presser that he hasn’t moved on from the loss. In fact, I think LSU will again come out flat and Baker will struggle to contain A$M’s QB
We can all laugh and troll Kiffin, and some posters here (for some reason) genuinely hate him, but at the end of the day Lane went to Oxford and was shown that the team didn’t need him or Charlie to win that game at home with that type of emotions.
We look at the surface level when it comes to these coaches, but at the end nd of the day Kiffin’s choices had tremendous effect on everyone from his own son to his daughter to the kids who played for him last year.
And that’s a heavy burden to carry
I’ll get crucified by my fellow LSU fans, but he literally may not recover from it.

i think this will be a pretty ugly, low scoring affair, with lsu pulling away late.
both teams will struggle to move the ball. I dont see A&M having much of a rush attack outside of marcel reed scrambling.

Well the loser only has to go 7-0 in their remaining SEC games to get a playoff spot. Doesn't sound so bad.
