Don't know what package TR 's is nor the mileage..but today a 07 Tahoe LS with 75k in milage is valued in the high teens to low twenties.

At my credit union you can get a 60 month loan for a 2007 vehicle @ 4.25%.

That's a monthly payment of $370.59.

Can a player on a Pell grant afford a car payment?

In addition, here's another little tidbit that no one has mentioned yet:

Richardson's father is deceased. That means that Trent was able to get a Social Security check every month until he was 19.

I wonder who's feeling like the biggest idiot right now...Brooks, or the posters on here who fell for this hook, line, and sinker.

You frickers are delusional, or ignorant, if you don't think Trent Richardson is getting improper benefits. It's happening at Alabama. It's happening at Auburn. It's happening at Ohio State. It's happening at Florida. It happens everywhere. Whether or not the NCAA find out is another question, but everyone is obviously cheating in some way.

That's a Tahoe..

A quick web search shows the 2007 Yukon BASE model MSRP of $35,250.

Auto Trader Online brings back over 250 2007 Yukons with the cheapest price being $18,500 BUT only a few out of the 250+ were between $18,500 and $21,000. The other 240+ were between $21,000-$45,600 (most of them were $26,000-$32,000)

I agree, and I really don't have a problem with players getting so called "benefits." Frankly, they make the school a shite ton of money, so IMO they are entitled to some hundred dollar handshakes and a BS loan so they can get a new car. That being said, I think a line needs to be drawn between players who are on campus and recruits.

So what are the odds that Brooks and Travis print retractions? Slim to none?

There are a couple on Carmax for $21,000 to $22,500.

That's beside the point. Brooks and Travis posted a lie in order to make money. Probably knowingly did it.

When you see an idiot like Brooks falsify documents to create a story, you understand why no serious journalist has picked up on any of this. What's hilarious is to see certain members of a certain fan base falling for it all.

It's actually 18 unless he is in High School and then it's 19. Trent was not in High School at 18, he was enrolled at Alabama before his 18th birthday.

Agree 100%

Plus, we have to take into account that some players come from absolutely nothing. They have nothing to their name, and it's the same way with their family. I have no problem with them having a car, or some extra bucks, and food... Nothing extreme like a house or anything like that, but "needy" things are okay.

I really dont think the NCAA gives a rat's arse about improper benefits the athletes get while in school as long as it don't get out of hand. I think they are more concerned about the kids making their own decision on what school to attend and not being influenced in improper ways.

It still could create the possibility that Trent had a nice little savings account to tap in to.

Yep that's your Credit Union... you think Trent Richardson has good enough credit to qualify?

I seriously doubt it. (I doubt any 18-21 year old kid who didn't come from a wealthy family does)
