Billionaires own sports franchises

And? Some do but the only billionaire who owns a sports franchise in Atlanta is Arthur Blank and he was a billionaire before he owned the team and the amount who own sports franchises are a small percentage anyway.

that list excludes a hell of a lot of billionaires.

Which list? The Forbes list?

Every franchise owner was a billionaire before they owned their franchise. That is how they are able to pay such exorbitant amounts for them.

Was Blank listed?

Did we ever really understand why wood went up 1000%?
Increased operating costs. That cost was passed along to the consumer like how it usually does.

I would rather be a millionaire in Alabama than a billionaire in New York.

Guy Benson's wife was a billionaire when he purchased the team?

Robert Kraft when he purchased the Patriots?

Point being some owners became billionaires because of the value of team increasing.

Many pro sports teams are now purchased by a consortium of investors.

They can just go back and claim one. They’ve done it before.
