The reason they didn't rush more is because they were unsuccessful at it and kept having to punt. You'd think ULSU fans would understand this concept better than most.

We didn't run as well, but we still had success running the ball in each quarter. His question is one many Arkansas fans have been asking since last season.

Actually, it had very solid numbers. It was on directly opposite the FSU/NC near upset. In the past two years, it had been up against nothing.

The crowd was 80% A&M. You are bound to be a big 12 fan.

You only threw the ball 13 times in the 2H + OT in 8 possessions. The vast majority of those passes came on 2nd or 3rd and long/medium. IMO, the biggest playcalling mistake in the 2H wasn't passing too much, but was not passing more on running downs.

In the 4th quarter, y'all ran the ball every single time on 1st down. Every single time. It was overly conservative given how often you were getting stuffed on 1st down and it resulted in 4 three-and-outs in the 4th quarter alone. Hell in OT y'all ran 3 of the 4 plays for a total of 1 yard.

I wouldn't say Arky abandoned the run. When A&M had sold out to stop to the run, they slowed it down but left the pass open. The play action pass to the TE for the 4th score was evidence of that. But those play action fakes didn't work as well in the 4th quarter.

DeShazor Everett and Howard Matthews were shutting that down in the 4th quarter.

No one really cares about Texas A&M and Arkansas.

Anyone who says Arkansas abandoned the run didn't actually watch the game.

1st half pass plays = 40%
2nd half pass plays = 32%

1st half rushing average = 6.6 ypc*
2nd half rushing average = 3.8 ypc

*not counting the fake punt.

Arkansas ran more in the 2nd half while averaging fewer yards per carry. They didn't change their offensive game plan. It stopped working.

A&M can only carry Arkansas so much. You had the crazy FSU/NCSU game going on as well and the Texas game was on at the same time which split up some of the casual fans in Texas. FWIW though they actually broke away from the Texas game in Austin to show the end of the A&M/Arkie game just to show how far Texas has fallen.

Arkie had huge sections of the stadium unfilled and apparently large numbers of hillbillies forgot to pay their electric bill so they only had 27 actual viewers of the game.

On the A&M side there was a rash of Dad's that were coaching their son's Pop Warner football game and had to DVR it. I fell in that category myself.

The primary reason was definitely FSU and NC St, but in addition to the secondary reasons listed a large part of our fanbase was getting drunk on Dickson St as part of the Bikes Blues and BBQ motorcycle rally.

I saw most of it. The one question I have is why did your coach stop running the ball? It just made no damn sense at all. He had a 2 TD lead and kept throwing - as if he wanted to make sure his QB got some #s in the game. If he would have kept running you would have knocked them out.

they were bringing 9-10- sometimes even 11 (see the Henry TD) in the box was the only way they could stop us and were leaving us no choice. even the best offensive line can't block that many. some of our young receivers couldn't make blocks.

That's the same question all hog fans want to know. Why were passing plays being called when the run game was so skrong? Aggie defense got breathers when drives began to stall, thanks to the inept passing game. Brandon Allen doesn't need 27 pass attempts. I think 10 of those should've been audibled into run plays at the line. Give Jonathon Williams the ball.
Go back and look at the Auburn game...same thing...strong rushing first half and unproductive second half. Arkansas has an excellent starting offensive line, but they lack depth. When they add a few quality Olinemen and defensive folks to the roster, they'll be hard to handle!

The obvious answer is that there was probably a big gay pride parade in Austin. Frankly its a miracle all of their football team made it to the game.
