What is your team's longest consecutive winnning streak against Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, and Tennessee?

I checked Saban at Bama's and Kirby at Georgia's records, thinking I'd get my answer. And I might have found it.

Alabama had a streak of 15 consecutive wins against the Big 6 (2014-2017)... that might be the record. Bama under Saban also had a 10-win streak (2020-2021) and a 9-game streak (2011-2013).... it looks like those were the only ones that lasted longer than 6 wins.

Georgia's longest under Kirby was 7 consecutive wins (2021-2023).

Auburn's longest was way back under Shug Jordan (1956-1958) when we hit 10 consecutive.

I'm guessing Florida under Spurrier and Bama under Bryant could potentially have the longest but haven't found the time to check.

That 15-game streak Bama had under Saban is insane. It's almost impossible to win that many big games in a row.

Anyone know their team's longest?

The OP is talking about a winning streak against the other five schools that make up the Big 6.

Games against any other schools do not count in this scenario.

Yeah I'm talking about just against the Big 6.

Looks like Spurrier won 11 straight from 1994 (following the loss to AU in Gainesville) and it lasted through 1997 which is when LSU upset them in Baton Rouge.

I think it is 12 between the Auburn loss and LSU.

'94 - UGA, Bama
'95 - Tenn, LSU, Auburn, UGA
'96 - Tenn, LSU, Auburn, UGA, Bama
'97 - Tenn

I believe his was 14 straight from 76 to 81.

Yep you're right. 12. That's a long streak.

I think that ranks 3rd all-time. Saban's Alabama streak of 15 previously mentioned ranks 2nd (2014-2017). And if I'm counting correctly, Bryant had a streak of 21 consecutive Big 6 wins from 1976-1982 at Bama.

I'm coming up with 21...

1976: TN, LSU, AU
1977: UGA, TN, LSU, AU
1978: UF, TN, LSU, AU
1979: UF, TN, LSU, AU
1980: TN, LSU, AU
1981: LSU, TN, AU
1982: (lost to TN)

Eh, you can't look to much into this. Kirby has owned all of our main rivals, Auburn, Tenny and UF for a whileand mopped the floor with LSU the last time we played them. We've traded blows with Bama for the last couple of years so that skews our results.

No doubt this stat isn't a reflection on the overall success of a coach. It's crazy that as far as I can tell, many of the SEC's greatest coaches never managed more than 5 or 6 of these wins in a row.

What it does highlight though are the eras in which one program under one head coach was absolutely at the top of the league with virtually no slip-up's. That's nearly impossible.

Kirby has been incredible, but there's no denying Bama has for the most part gotten the best of him. Same could be said of Fulmer at Tennessee... only it seemed Florida was the opponent he could rarely get past.

Based on what I can find, these are the only coaches to string together 10 or more consecutive wins against the Big 6:

21- Bryant, Alabama (1976-1982)
15- Saban, Alabama ( l2014-2017)
12- Spurrier, Florida (1994-1997)
11- Bryant, Alabama (1973-1976)
10- Jordan, Auburn (1956-1958)
10- Saban, Alabama (2020-2021)

That's it. Six streaks by just four different coaches. A streak like that is a remarkable feat.

*** and all six of these streaks produced a National Title BTW.

Go look at Neyland against the rest in the late 1930s. I have a feeling that's our best shot, but not sure. From what I found looks like between 1938-1940 he won 10 against the big 6, but not sure if it was consecutive

As far as I can tell...
Tennessee's longest winning streaks were:
9 - 1938 - 1940 under Neyland; and
7 - '97 & '98 under Fulmer

It wouldn't surprise me if, during the 70s, Bryant had a pretty absurd streak.

I just checked, and from 1976 to 1981 Alabama won 21 straight games against the Big 6:

1976 - Tennessee, LSU, Auburn
1977 - Georgia, Tennessee, LSU, Auburn
1978 - Florida, Tennessee, LSU, Auburn
1979 - Florida, Tennessee, LSU, Auburn
1980 - Tennessee, LSU, Auburn
1981 - LSU, Tennessee, Auburn (21 games)

Just an insane streak that will likely never be broken.

With that said, Bryant had totally demoralized the Auburn, Tennessee, and LSU programs by the late 1970s and all were at very low points. Bama somehow missed Georgia every year except for '77. And Florida's program was still for the most part not good yet.

Of those 21 wins, only one came against an opponent that finished the season ranked ('79 Auburn).

***Saban's 15-win streak was way more impressive IMO. Eleven of those 15 wins came against Big 6 SEC opponents that finished in the Top 25. That's crazy.

On the flip side, Auburn is now on a 12-game losing streak against the Big 6 (0-5 against UGA and Bama.. 0-2 against LSU). This is by far our longest such streak since we lost 16 straight between 1924-1931.

Truly a depressing 5 seasons.

Also it's ridiculous we've not played Tennessee or Florida in the past half decade... thankfully that changes this season.

UF was awful during that period. Fired Dickey and then went 0-10-1 with Pell before he "got better" at recruiting.
