Oklahoma HS football is mediocre talent wise. If Riley stays at OU his stock has a more likely chance of going down when they enter the SEC. From a career trajectory and $$$ standpoint he would betting on himself at a big risk. Taking the LSU job would give him a much better recruiting base and a better position to compete. Staying at OU will put him at a recruiting and competitive disadvantage imo.

Which is why they focus their recruiting efforts in Texas.

Exactly. At LSU he could still recruit Texas while getting a lot more in state talent. It’s a better situation from a talent standpoint. In the Big 12 that’s not as big of a deal. Bob Stoops wasn’t facing the same circumstance. Lincoln Riley has to prepare to win in the SEC.

I haven't a clue what Riley will do. There are arguments both ways. All I know is that he is going to get a generational contract from either OU or LSU

They have a Dallas pipeline. To say their recruiting is worse is funny.

Louisiana is light years ahead when it comes to in-state talent. That’s a huge advantage to have. OU has to rely on Texas. LSU doesn’t. It’s just an added luxury to get players elsewhere.

The state of Oklahoma will produce 5-10 4*/5* recruits per year. Texas will have 50. To say OU is at a recruiting disadvantage is ignorant.

Texas is a big state, so just saying that someone can "recruit Texas" from any given location is a little bit off base.

Norman is as close to DFW as is Austin or College Station. Essentially, DFW is in-state recruiting for OU. At LSU, on the other hand, you'd focus more on Houston and East Texas. LSU being the school of choice for a small but talent rich state like Louisiana is still a clear advantage for LSU, but trying to say that it's down to Oklahoma high school football sucking is missing the point.

Hope he stays at OU. I'm not sold on this dude. He has accomplished shite, despite being the flagship school in Oklahoma. Mike Gundy is more accomplished in that state.

Have to disagree. Unless he just wants out of Norman for some reason, I think he would be dumb to leave Oklahoma for LSU. It's a lateral move and LSU can't offer anything Oklahoma can't.

With Riley choosing between LSU and OU its a push. Historically they're both great programs that have proven to win on the big stage.

As per usual, it will all come down to MONEY

Maybe but I think sometimes we forget that these coaches are real human beings with lives other than football and sometimes they want a change for personal reasons that have nothing to do with football or money. Jimbo Fisher wanted out of Tallahassee and A & M came knocking.

Not really true.

If he could not turn around LSU... then what? Worse situation.

Not at all. OU in the SEC will recruit at a higher level. The example here is Ms St and Leach. He could not pull the recruits to WSU at QB and WR like he is at Ms St simply because he is in the SEC.

He will put more 4 star players on offense at the same time than any former MSU coach in their history.

Being in the SEC does have it's privileges.

Ranked #8th right now. When they enter the SEC, they will pull the better recruits from OSU.

I live in DFW, the Denton/ north Dallas area.

There's OU fans everywhere, there's OU fans at my kids high school. OU has roots in North Texas and it's not going away.

As has been stated - DFW is so close, it’s practically in state for OU. Plus they have the annual Cotton Bowl game in Dallas.

LSU has a Houston pipeline on top of already getting first dibs at the best of the best in Louisiana.

Taking the LSU job would mean he would have to move from Norman to Baton Rouge. That's reason enough to stay at OU.

There is zero reasos why….. he would leave zero everything you said is false . Texas recruiting is as good or better than most . LSU is not recruiting any better than OU this year or next and there program is going on probation soon . Riley knows 1000 mil or not it’s. No brained to stay at OU
