Like Georgia's 1942 title claim even though they finished second in the AP poll? Lol.

Georgia finished #1 in most of the polls. UGA was the consensus winner, not Ohio State. The AP wasn't the majority poll taker back then.

Always changing the rules after Alabama teams frick Arkansas, funny how it always breaks for the Alabama teams the next time too..

Exactly. Like after the Sugar Bowl for the '73 title, they lost to Notre Dame and turned right around and claimed the title anyway. The next year, the UPI changed their rules to have their champion named after the bowls.

Trophies are in the Bryant Museum.

Is your 1973 title trophy in there, too? You know, the game you lost to Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl?

Show me just ONE team awarded an AP or UPI national title that doesn't claim it. Just one. And I'll shut up.

Alabama won both of the wire-service NC trophies. Of course they are going to claim it. It did cause the AP to switch the next year to after the bowl games. Alabama won that one too only because of the switch. But the point is that Bama won them both under the rules that were in place at that time.

Btw, Bama's bowl loss in 1964 was primarily because Namath had been severely injured and did not start but after falling behind, he was substituted for Sloan and played on a very bad knee and almost won the game - they lost 21-17. If replay was in use Bama might have won it anyway, having driven down to the goal line at the end of the game. Namath said he scored the refs said no, not sure what the replay would have said. Bama's comeback and especially Namath's play (limping around on the field) in the game was legendary.

Bama does not claim 1945 when they won the SEC, were 10-0, averaging winning 43-8, beating 2 loss LSU 26-7, 1 loss UT 25-7 and 2 loss UGA 28-14, crushing USC in the Rose Bowl. It was a great team but finished 2 in the AP.

Bama does not claim 1966, the 2 time defending NC, they went 11-0 giving up 37 points on the year, crushing Neb in the Sugar Bowl. The title was given to once tied ND. That was the first year of the Super Bowl and in the winning locker room on live TV they asked Lombardi if they were now the undisputed champions of football. He said he didn't know, they had not played Alabama yet. It was almost as good as the trophy, but not quite :-) Finished number 3 in the AP.

Seriously? You really go to the Bryant museum? Holy shite. I thought that was only designed to impress prospective out of state students. How many times does a grown man need to walk by a trophy case and look at shite he never accomplished? I have never toured any buildings at Auburn to look at trophies; Natty, Heismans, Outland, etc. ...and I’ve lived in Auburn since ‘91. Dude, you need to broaden your horizons - there’s a big world out there.

That might change. Now that you barners can't spend all your time rolling toilet paper and staring at your favorite oak trees, it could free up some valuable time before you head off to McDonalds.

Watch out, they’re going to get upset at you

Why would we?

The NCAA recognizes our claim but we should be upset because Drac doesn't? Well. That is a rather peculiar take on things.

Say, hypothetically speaking, you take one of those years when Arkansas track was just stomping everyone in sight and we swept outdoor, indoor, and cross country in the same year. You loudly proclaim that you don't recognize those track titles. Should we be upset or should we be concerned that you are off your medications again?

I've never dropped by but the Bryant Museum encompasses all of college football, including AU, but of course with a focus on Coach Bryant and Alabama.

Congregating in downtown Auburn after a win with a drink in hand while students, children with their parents, et al rolling trees is MUCH different than a grown arse man touring a building to look at trophies he never earned nor won ...more than once!

Everyone knew how the championship was awarded in those seasons before the seasons started. No one was confused.
