17 claimed National Championships and 4 unclaimed National Championships. That's a lot of hardware to only have 2 Heisman winners.

You don't need the best player when you have the best team. It also doesn't hurt when both of the GOAT coaches won many titles at your school. How many hesimans is that worth?

Ah child, those were mostly Coach Bryant achievements they were listing. However football at Alabama has a long and glorious history.

You are right, but at Alabama just about everybody gets to play. Coach Bryant never had a Heisman winner at Alabama because no player ever really played the whole game and ran up stats.
While I am happy Alabama has won 2 Heisman trophies, truth is when I am talking Alabama football, I never even think about them. Individual trophies are for lesser teams to brag about.

Well, how about the #1 vs #2 games that were played in bowls? Even with the BCS and CFP there has been some problems.

To be fair, Texas does get shite for this. But it's still just as weak of a troll as this thread is supposed to be. And the ones that do the trolling tend to have a low number of championships themselves, but I digress.
When the regular season finished, they crowned the champions. That's how it worked back then.
And yes, the NCAA could *gasp* have multiple national champions depending on the multiple selectors, which is why Arkansas' 1964 National Championship claim is just as credible.
