Ole Miss isn't Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Georgia, UF, or Tennessee. Heck nobody else in the SEC is in that category either. When any of the Non Big 6 schools start recruiting at a Big 6 school level, red flags go up. OM, State, mizzou, USCe, Aggie, Arky, ect are all just inferior programs. I know it sucks, but they just need to accept they are inferior.

I don't think the Ags should be included in that group. With the recruits in Texas, their facilities, and the right head coach, there's no reason they can't land top 5 recruiting classes regularly.

I completely agree with this.

This is a serious question; no troll. Was LSU recruiting good before Saban? As in top 10 every year?

Keep thinking that inferior QB play is going to help you any next year. Yall will finish behind us in the West next year again.

Yeah, they had like 3-4 top 10 finishes from 1992-2000

Always have had great athletes, never had the coaching. Evident when Saban won an SEC championship in his 2nd year

Makes sense. The Louisiana talent is unreal.

This this and friggin this. It's unfortunate and unfair but honestly, SMU was never supposed to recruit like Texas. It was simply the very thing that got the investigations started. They said frankly, you shouldn't be this good. One year, ok, every dog has a day but when you start consistently doing what you never have done in your history in a consecutive time frame, it brings attention. As crazy as it is to say, Ole Miss needs a 5 win season.

Actually they kind of were. But it was also the days before Rivals and Scout. You know, the good ol days of recruiting.

Off and on. Nowhere near as consistently as the past 16 years. However it should be pointed out that LSU was the 12th winningest Div. I program of all time prior to Saban and even after the successes of the 21st Century which include being the winningest SEC program of the century, they still sit at 12th all-time. What that speaks to is that the upper echelon of college football doesn't really change very much over the large-sample sizes of time. May have a bad year now and then but all stay pretty consistent over time. BTW, OM is 33rd all-time which puts them inside the top 30% which is nothing to sneeze at.

correct. 2/3 of Saban's starters were recruited by Dinardo. Several even held over to the 2003 national championship team.

I'm not challenging your assertion, I'm just curious as to where you're getting your ranking information from. Rivals was founded in 1998, ESPN wasn't ranking classes that far back, and 247 was founded by ex-Rivals people. Not sure when Scout was founded, but I don't think they preceded Rivals.

Yes they belong amongst the second tier... Example A of perennial mediocrity. What you are saying is a myth. Facts point to a very different reality.

even Curley Hallman pulled in a few top end classes while at LSU.

Curley had 4 or 5 Mr. footballs in one class...seemed like every running back in the south committed to LSU. Dinardo definitely recruited well. He is the one that stopped the top recruits from going to Miami, FSU, Michigan, ND etc

Have an upvote, Dawg. You hit the nail of the head.

Back in the day, I sat through some truly awful Egg Bowls when both MS schools signed the scabs nobody else wanted. The overall athleticism, in particular speed, and intelligence on the field has improved markedly since the dark ages.

LSU has never had a recruiting problem, just coaching ones.
