Yep, there was a span of six consecutive years where Alabama played the most teams in the conference coming off their bye. It definitely does matter when a team has two weeks to prepare and you're coming off a slobber knocker of a game the week before. I've watched too many Alabama games over the years where this was the case.

If Bama is undeservedly ranked high, and Bama is UGA’s best win (a squeaker) why the frick is UGA still considered a top 10 team after losing to unranked Auburn at home?

Only excuse is both teams played their best games against each other. Wear and tear happens. Georgia came off a big high like Bama did two years ago before the Vandy upset. Easy to overlook Auburn nowadays. Bama apparently expected the best defense in the country to be behind them when Tennessee’s is honestly better than Georgia’s. Kirby still can’t stop a mobile quarterback.

If they won out and avoided the SEC championship game, I think they would be in the playoff. Not sure what you are fishing for here but there is no way Auburn makes the playoff but you would have to beat Alabama. And the above would eliminate that factor. So with Alabama and LSU, that's at least 2 more losses for Auburn.

Let's look at like opponents:
vs Georgia
bama loses at home
Auburn wins at Georgia
vs UT
bama loses at UT
Auburn loses at UT
Auburn had a chance at the end to come back and beat UT but missed a 4th down. Bama just got that arse beat. Why the hell are they ranked and Auburn is not? Because they have a better loss to Georgia vs our other loss to Florida? Maybe, but as we know, we beat #1 Georgia at Georgia.
Alabama has better wins overall.
I have Alabama #12 and Auburn #26
The loss to Florida is about equal and offsets your win over Georgia. Florida is #35 in F+, Georgia is #1. Your other 3 wins are nothing of note really, Baylor #43 registers a tiny bit.
Alabama has the 2 losses, but they are overall to better teams. And then Alabama had 3 wins that are better than the Auburn win over Baylor.
