If Tennessee doesn't hire Gruden. You should kill your AD. He said publicly he'd coach at UT.
Gruden reportedly turned them down in 2012. Moreover, he's never coached at the college level and, all things considered, only had a couple good seasons. He finished with a career winning percentage barely over .500. Contrary to popular belief, coaching in the NFL does not equate to collegiate coaching success. Ask Bill Callahan, Bruce Arians, Dan Henning, Rod Dowhower, Al Groh, Chan Gailey, Dave Wannstedt, Mike Sherman, Charlie Weiss, Lane Kiffin, Doug Marrone, John Robinson, Jerry Glanville, Ray Perkins, Bobby Ross, Forrest Gregg, even pro legends like George Allen, Lou Saban (no relation), and Bill Walsh. The style of play in the NFL is different, the coach-player dynamic is totally different, and there's obviously no recruiting aspect. Same reason so many college coaches fail at the next level - it's a different game.

I don't know why we even do this shite anymore. I have been depressed all day long and I am tired of my weekends in the fall being ruined like this.
Hang in there. Conference play hasn't even started yet.

The best part about our upcoming, soul-crushing loss to Florida in two weeks is that I will be able to finally devote my weekends to my true passion: making sculptures of medieval arms and armor out of beans. I call it beansmithing.
I shall be the FINEST beansmith in the land! Bitches love beans!

I dont kick a man if he is down...I actually encouraged UT a little bit when I posted this morning that your defense played well in first half.
I've been there and it was like a funeral when the Gators lost...but Im 68 now and the next funeral will be my own. I bounce back after an L now.
Remember Vols that Ohio State lost to Va Tech last year at home early...so you never know.

Our defense was superb and I don't blame them one bit for this loss even if they did give up two late 4th quarter touchdowns.
Thanks for the kind words but Urban Meyer doesn't coach this team.

I have compiled a list of similarities between Urban Meyer and Butch Jones:
1) Both have coached teams from Ohio
2) Both played college football
3) Both have hair
4) Both are currently employed as head football coaches
And that's it so far.

Nothing to laugh about. Tennessee lost to Oklahoma like a lot of teams do. For all we know Oklahoma might turn out to be the future Big 12 champs. You played them tough and lost in overtime.
Some teams left on your schedule like Arkansas, Missouri, and USCe appear to be struggling. Others like Florida and Kentucky may be better than expected.
Lot of football left. There are teams we can laugh at this week but Tennessee isn't one of them.

It didn't end well but Tennessee played well and looked good for long stretches in that game. I don't get to see most of their games but that team looks to have more talent than anything they've fielded in a long time.

Georgia Southern. Georgia. Southern.

Even though we aren't that great, a lot of SEC teams we play are no better, or worse, than we are. Florida, Arkansas, Kentucky, SC, Missouri and Vanderbilt all look extremely winnable. Georgia is at home, and they have a tendency to Richt it up sometimes, so that's winnable as well. Alabama could be winnable but I'd give it a 20% shot at best. We may not be all that and still end up 8-4 or even 9-3.

Honestly GA Southern doesn't bother Florida fans any more. It was 2 years ago and the reason we lost that game is gone. Tennessee lost to that same Florida team by 20 though

I thought UT fans were overconfident before this week, and I think y'all are way too down this week.
Y'all have a damn good team, and just came up short against another good team. If you play that second half 10 more times, UT wins 8 of them.
Looking forward to a good battle this year in Knoxville

They should be concerned about their QB. His completion percentage is just over 50.

He tightened up in his first test of the season against a team with athletes that could hang with most SEC teams.
He isn't going to be a Heisman contender, but he is one of the top 4 QBs in the conference. His completion percentage after two games is silly to worry about.
They need to be happy they got that experience out of the way early and OOC.
