But the haters said our revenue would drop way down after the new stadium was built. LOL

Question - why is Notre Dame not listed in this?

If Jimbo is 6-6 for the next five years at A&M, then we'll just give him his money, fire him, and set the market again on the next hire. This is what people don't seem to understand about where A&M is right now. The money is nothing to A&M. It's only about finding the formula that leads to winning. That's all it is.

The money is new, but having a better program than Arkansas is tradition.

Which is a pithy comeback... except that traditionally you haven't been as good as Arkansas. Even after the disaster of Bert and John L. Smith we still lead the series by 11 wins.

Traditionally you guys are a middle of the pack team. I'm not saying that to insult you. Arkansas has been a middle of the pack team in the SEC. Some years we finish towards the top, some years we finish near the bottom, most years we float around the middle of the conference. Sort of like how A&M is doing.

LOL at aggy "profit"... They actually ran a deficit.

Keep that whore money rolling in for aggy, SEC... They need it

Do everyone now - I want to see what the real story is on us and others. Most everyone is spending some big capital these days. I'm just curious, I really don't care as long as LSU invests in the right areas. Better finally finish that nutrition center or whatever the hell politics killed a few years ago. Swim team gotta eat.

Yeah nothing against the Aggies, but sooner or later they need to see some results in the Big 3 sports. If not, I don't see the point or purpose.

Stupid aggy, $65 million of your total is directly tied to facilities improvements.

Once again, you don't have a profit, and your expenses of $147 million show where you will drop once that capital campaign ends.

You will drop behind Alabama, Georgia, Florida, LSU, Auburn and Tennessee. LOL.

South Carolina: $6,715,463

Building and new $30 million FootballOps building last year and this year will do that to you.

As it has been explained to some of us, at countless booster and big donor events, the object is to spend all the money and show as little profit as possible.

Two reasons.

1) We are not profit institutions.

2) Profits, or a large portion thereof, are forced back into the University's general funds accounts which has a drastic negative effect on tax dollar funded moneys later budgeted by state and federal legislators.

The object is to spend it all and continue the facilities and amenities arms race.

The bubble will eventually burst.

I know that South Carolina (our Athletic Department) now has the second largest emergency cash fund in the conference at $50 million and growing. It's earning interest and still being contributed-to yearly.

I'm pretty sure that it was discussed in Destin this year, after Tanner gave his speech, and that the rest of the conference is about to tack similarly towards preparing for harder times.

What's still quite amazing is that 12 of our 14 programs have now joined the $100 million club.

I perfectly understand as it's noted in my post. What you don't understand is how big of an L that would be.

My take on this.

All Sports. Revenue. Net

Florida. 1. 4. 3.
Georgia. 2. 3. 2.
Texas A&M. 3. 1. 1.
Arkansas. 4. 10. 4.
USC. 5. 8. 11.
Auburn. 6. 6. 7.
Tennessee. 7. 7. 9.
Kentucky. 8. 9. 12.
Alabama. 9. 2. 6.
LSU. 10. 5. 5.
Vandy. 11. ? ?
Miss. 12. 11. 10.
Miss St. 13. 12. 8.
Missouri. 14. 13. 13.

Some schools get more return on investment than others.

To my surprise Arkansas, USC seem to have great numbers.

On the other side Alabama, LSU are getting poor returns.

We've realized where we stand in that regard for awhile.

We give a lot of credit to our BoTs for demanding this (at the demand of boosters) and our AD for making it happen for the most part.

We are a very conservative University.

Except we won't because hiring Jimbo just re-energized our boosters for another year or two. We will just start fundraising for some building Jimbo wants.

I would rather be in our shape and be spending all our potential "profits" on facilities rather than be say Texas that has such a bloated bureaucracy of an AD that eat up a huge amount of capital every year without bringing in a single benefits in major sports.

Based I what I have heard from big boosters we feel like we got a deal on Jimbo. He took the first deal we threw at him, but we would have gone higher. I think the $100 million Texas threw at Saban would have been our upper limit.

So Jimbo has about $25-30 million of money that we will spend on whatever he wants. If he wants a fricking truckload of fake Christmas trees, or rape kits, or whatever we will be ready to pay the bill.

I love football and all sports, but damn, that's a lot of money being spent on sports. I know they make a lot too, but these big numbers are terrible to see when you think about what it could be spent on. It also shows the greed in sports.

Texas A&M had nearly $212 million in operating revenue during its 2017 fiscal year, according to its latest financial report to the NCAA. Almost $93 million of that amount was categorized as contributions received and spent by the department during that year, the document shows.

44% was contributions/donations. That seems high and risky. Jimbo better deliver.
