I'm wondering what Kiffin needs to do at FAU to demonstrate he's ready for a P5 coaching gig. This seems risky to me, because he's going to a school where it will be incredibly difficult to win big. And if he doesn't turn heads by really taking the program up a few levels, then what has he proven? I don't think making a bowl game would make people say "okay, he's shown he's ready". Or is this about running a program without any major blunders or controversial statements?

What does he need to do at FAU to show he can take over a big time program?

I'd happily take a million dollar salary to coach FAU.

So he took a pay cut to try and become a head coach again? So what? He is making 7 figures to coach a sport you couldn't play in high school

Just not act like a complete idiot. I once saw an interview with Saban where he was asked how he finds leaders on his team. He said when scrimmaging he will put these 5 stars on 3rd string against the one's. The one's who complain and make excuses are not leaders.

I think this is where Kiffin is at. He has to show he can lead a lesser than program before anyone gives him the keys to a larger one.

It is not an incredible task for FAU to win its conference. It is pretty ideal for him in his rebuild of himself as a head coach, actually. And, he is not hurting financially even with child support and alimony.

Let's look at their records as college head coach. Keep in mind that all but one year of Kiffin's time was at probation riddled USC.

Lane Kiffin 35-21
Ed Orgeron 21-29

edit: Since you guys couldn't get Herman or Fisher, your brilliant administrators hired the wrong assistant coach. You should have hired Kiffin to be head coach, and kept Orgeron as an assistant.

It's like Kiffin doesn't want to be Vice president and make more money. He wants to be Head of Transportation because he's the head. Better off without that dude...

L6U is paying Ed Oeaux $3mil, LMAO.

Just think about that for a second, and I bet you will shake your head, scratch it a few times and chuckle.

$3mil for Ed O as the Head Coach at LSU.

Which school gets more wins per $ out of these choices?

Herman gave LSU a number and Alleva said no.

btw, i have never seen a state fan more obsessed with LSU. I guess winning 4 out of 30 makes you salty

Difficult for a shitty coach to win. Not one with Kiffin's football IQ and experience. He'll run rings around that conference once he gets some players in there. Imagine executing the "Process" in Boca.

I mean, he worked at Alabama. Doesn't this insult apply just as equally to the school that you didn't attend but like for football alone?

No, it doesnt. Because he wasn't offered the opportunity to stay at Alabama. We pushed him out, which I'm pretty pissed about but whatever. Dude is young and, from what I have gathered from the female population, good looking and not married anymore... why the hell do we give a frick what he puts his dick in? If I was in the boat and could sleep at a different sorority house every night you can bet your arse I'd be all up in them greek guts. And now we have no OC.... lovely.

Head Coach > Assistant

Not hard to understand except for LSU fans apparently.

We all assume that to be the case, but he said in his presser he was going to be OC at Alabama in 2017 if he didn't get the FAU job.

I have trouble believing it, but I would wager that that was contingent on him just not being offered ANYTHING other than a competing OC position in the conference

So, he left a million on the table to AVOID going to LSU? Ever consider that maybe NO one wants to be part of that....?
