Mobile has the original Mardi Gras.
Wasn’t Mobile part of Louisiana then? The Gulf Coast belonged to Louisiana. One day we will take it back.

No. What Mobile claims as its first Mardi Gras parade was actually on New Year's 1830, at which point Alabama was a State. So, it wasn't a Mardi Gras parade by definition because it wasn't during Mardi Gras.
As between Mobile and New Orleans, the first real Mardi Gras parade, on Mardi Gras day, happened in New Orleans in 1857.

You are missing out if you dont go to Bourbon on Friday during the day. Best time of the whole year to be there
I agree with this. The whole Hermes / Iris interplay and walking pre-parades is awesome. Plus if you get into Galatoire’s it’s epic. Sadly those seats were auctioned off this year for an average of $3k per seat.

Then that confirms you’re a functional retard if you’re countering the facts in his post.

The Krewe of Endymion is widely considered the largest Mardi Gras krewe in New Orleans, recognized as a "Super Krewe" with over 3,000 riders, 37+ floats, and massive crowds. Founded in 1967, it is known for its spectacular, technologically advanced floats and huge, celebrity-led parade in Mid-City.
Although I live in Key Biscayne, I still maintain my Endymion and Bacchus memberships and ride almost every year. Not only is Endymion considered the best and most generous krewe, there is no match for the Endymion Extravaganza in the Superdome.

As between Mobile and New Orleans, the first real Mardi Gras parade, on Mardi Gras day, happened in New Orleans in 1857.
The first fully recognized and recorded Mardi Gras festival in the United States was held at the French settlement of La Mobile at the Fort Louis de La Louisiane fort in the present day town of La Moyne, Alabama in 1703.
Jean Baptiste Le Moyne Sieur de Bienville landed around 60 miles south of New Orleans in 1699 and named the bit of marsh land, a patch of land, Pointe du Mardi Gras because it was around the time of the liturgical season of Lent in various countries in Europe. There is no evidence of a festival of any sort being celebrated there though.
What you are insincerely doing is trying to confuse posters here by semantically, and wrongly, pivoting on the difference between the words festival and parade.
You are wrong on both accounts though. The Boeuf Gras Society"was formed and paraded from 1711 through 1861
The first Mardi Gras festival, as far as the United States is concerned, was indeed held at the original Mobile settlement in La Moyne, as stated above, in 1703.
The first krewe/mystic society in the United States was also created in present day Mobile, Alabama, in 1711, the aforementioned Boeuf Gras Society.
New Orleans has no claim on Mardi Gras; sorry for the facts.

Is Mobile Catholic?
The secular world has hijacked another Christian celebration.
Everyone forgets the actual purpose of the celebration. A fest day prior to 40 days of fasting leading up to Easter remembering Christ’s 40 days in the desert. Three colors representing the three kings and the gifts. The King cake baby represents Jesus.
Let me know when Lane runs (courir) - Mamou, Eunice, Church Point… real Mardi Gras
Not Tetons, and… Indians?

No one other than some rednecks in Alabama think of Mobile when they hear Mardi Gras. Everyone in the country knows Mardi Gras belongs to New Orleans.

No one thinks of intelligent when someone says LSU fan either, but what does that have to do with anything?
Mardi Gras is a festival nurtured and given birth by the current state of Alabama and has been consecutively celebrated there longer than anywhere in the North or, for that matter South, American continents.

Mobile is and was just as Catholic as New Orleans ever was and is.
That's irrelevant though, Protestants observe Lent also.
In fact, the very first "float" was created by the Mistick Krewe of Comus, members of the Mobile Mystic Societies, and they were a bunch of Protestant Anglo-Americans.
In a funny coincidence, it was also Prostestant Anglo-Americans that turned New Orleans into a livable and prosperous city where before them arriving and taking over it had been a deeply indebted, mosquito infested, disease ridden, horror show barely subsiding on welfare from France. The same France which was just about an inch away from cutting New Orleans off entirely and leaving it adrift due to the resource drain.
