Reading comprehension?

Seems obvious to me he’s stating that young “men”… in his case, 16 years old, should just go ahead and marry the girl when they are BOTH young. I haven’t seen anything to suggest that he’s saying a 40yr old man should marry a 15 year old.

Far before Roman Catholicism stood alone, the ecumenical council consisted of the 5 patriarchates known as the Pentarchy. Four are still Orthodox

I’m Catholic and you are correct. A little abrasive, but correct (for the most part) lol

I’ve been wanting to post this.

It’s sad that the East / West Schism happened. A mutual excommunication.

The two are closer than most realize… many things hung up on semantics.

I left the Catholic Church for a period of time. Spent several years in different Protestant churches - Baptist, Methodist, Nazarene, Assemblies of God. Met many amazing and Godly people.

I’m honest with Catholics in my circle that get it wrong. The ones that brag about things like “One True Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church” knowing that the creed is lower case “c” catholic meaning “universal”.

I’m equally honest in my Protestant circles when they make incorrect accusations about Catholic Theology.

I love my Protestant friends, but if I weren’t Catholic I’d be Orthodox.

Studying the early Church did it for me.

Catholics have some bad apples, but we also have over half of the world’s Christians.

I love the Orthodox dynamic, because Catholics are only used to arguing with Protestants.

Protestants can’t argue with Orthodox Christians because they are programmed with Anti Catholic talking points.

Another poster talked about Orthodoxy falling under Rome. Definitely incorrect… he’s probably thinking of The Eastern-Rite of the Catholic Church. Basically Orthodox that came into communion with Rome, so Rome let them keep their Orthodox traditions.

Sounds like it. I hope to do the same for my kids.

The message to my kids will be that they better tighten up, because you don’t always get do-overs. Our modern culture encourages the opposite.

I went back to college and got a degree, but was only able to attend at night after work. We didn’t have much money growing up, and I didn’t get to party my 20s away like a lot of my friends.
The entire situation sucks…

Still not a kid, even if you considered yourself a kid at that age.

I, and many others were earning a living at 18. Im 38. Our grandparents and their parents were starting families and working at 18.

When did our culture start considering mid 20s a kid? People all over the world including here start working at 18. We are tasked with making wise irreversible choices.

Just because someone chooses to go to college or is slow to mature doesn’t make them a kid. Too many have subscribed to this YOLO mentality. All of our ancestors would be ashamed.

Sorry for all involved.

somewhat large group

I’d call it a niche. I don’t know a single Cajun fan that hates LSU. I’m not saying they don’t exist, but you’d think in my 38 years I would have met at least 1 if it was a large group. Every fanbase has some goofballs. LSU has plenty too…

I have family that currently go to UL and they wear LSU more often than Cajun attire.
More Lies… I’m from Lafayette area

Every restaurant has LSU decor

Cajun and Zydeco musicians rep both… and honestly more LSU

Mardi Gras parades, including the courir rep both.

I could go on..

Fake rivalry
Showing up again to call out this fake rivalry…

LSUs brand and identity is Cajun culture. Cajun fans and LSU fans are the same people.

“Geaux”

“Hot boudin and cold Cush Cush (couche couche)”

A real life Burr(eaux) wouldn’t have been from NOLA or Monroe… sorry

Fake rivalry.
Let’s all just tell it like it is…

Additional notes:

LSUs national identity and cultural branding is Cajun culture. LSUs branding is much more in line with the people of Acadiana (that love LSU) than Nola, Monroe, or LC.

Many of the kids that grow up in Acadiana loving LSU eventually attend UL. They don’t just start hating LSU. Most UL fans are also LSU fans.

Fake rivalry…

It’s about $, not likability.

This ain’t mathing…

And you mentioned that people in Lafayette hate UL (wrong). The irony is that most students at UL were once NOT students at UL and are from Acadiana. So they just decided that they like UL, enrolled in UL, and started hating LSU? Doesn’t make sense.

Also, you’re still making up stuff. You’re wrong for all of the reasons I mentioned in previous post, but that’s beside the point…

The thread is about “Favorite and least favorite La school”, and we can see that most of the responses are from non-Acadiana folks judging by their “other” favorite school.

The primary justification for this hate is because they think UL fans hate LSU.

That’s absolutely false with the exception of very few.

My point is that UL fans are for the most part LSU fans too. UL fans are also more culturally aligned with LSUs “Cajun” brand & culture. They are the same people. The Acadiana region that centers in Lafayette and fades towards Lake Charles and fades west of BR.

You won’t find UT stuff in College Station. I’m sure you won’t find Bama stuff in Auburn. Lafayette is filled with LSU merch and a community representation of both.

Fake made up rivalry…

they are almost all fans except ULL

More fake news…

Fake made up rivalry

I’m from there, spent most of my life there, my family is there, and I go back often. The entire region of Acadiana (especially the heart of Acadiana) - Cajuns, Tigers, Saints

Lived in Lake Charles for a few years, they are Cowboys (Geaux Pokes), Tigers, Saints

Haven’t spent much time in North La so can’t speak to them… the Cajun and Creole communities of South Louisiana love LSU… including students and Alum of other universities (with the exception of a very small few)

Nola area is its own separate demographic and culture.

LSUs national brand and culture is Cajun culture

Most Cajuns are in Acadiana. Cajuns don’t hate LSU.

Sorry to lessen yalls fake rivalry
Not true.

Again… it’s the same fan base. It’s not uncommon to see both LSU and UL merchandise for sell around Acadiana. Boutiques, large box stores, convenience stores etc…

Area restaurants rep both schools

Cajun & Zydeco musicians perform for both tailgates. And rep both schools.

Some UL students can be found repping LSU.

Mardi Gras parades rep both schools.

Area athletes target both schools (LSU choice 1, especially for football)

Most residents / fans rep both schools.

I could go on…

What you are describing is a niche demographic.
Y'all are funny… everyone knows that LSU is the flagship.

Like I said… fake rivalry.

Some of y'all act like this is Texas / A&M or Bama / Auburn.

The whole state loves LSU. Sure… you can cherry pick a few fans from each base that like to stir the pot. Doesn’t change the fact that fans and Alum of all other La schools still pull for LSU.

Would be nice if LSU had a real rival so these threads wouldn’t exist.

TD gets a lot of traffic from folks who never log in or have an account. The only reason I comment on these is because a handful of people are driving a fake narrative that there’s some rivalry between the Ragin’ Cajuns and Tigers.

It’s the same dang fanbase if you live in Acadiana lol

I would bet that on any given Saturday, a lot of Tiger Stadium is filled with fans that have allegiance to one other in state school in addition to LSU.
quote:

Second favorite to LSU would be my hometown McNeese cowboys. Least favorite (hated) would have to be ULL

I figured it out… all the fans that hate ULL are fans of other state schools based on their proximity, or are out of state Alum.

Lake Charles people - like McNeese & LSU = hate ULL

Monroe people - like ULM & LSU = hate ULL

Ruston people - like La Tech & LSU = hate ULL

Out of state - like LSU & hate ULL because of made up a fake rivalry

New Orleans/ Slidell/ Mandeville/ some BR - like LSU & some Tulane, but hate ULL

Lafayette - like ULL & LSU.. I haven’t personally met anyone that hates McNeese… but when in lived in Lake Charles, apparently it was a rival.

I pull for Mcneese & Tulane too FWIW
quote:

UL-Lafayette is easily the most disliked in the state because of their fans.

You probably never met one of them. There’s around 30 posters on this site that keep trying to fuel this fake rivalry.

Most Cajun fans / alum are also LSU fans.

I always wear LSU when I travel. One time I decided to wear my Ragin’ Cajun hat / shirt on a trip to Galveston (I live in Tx now).

Group of LSU fans saw me and gave me the ole “Tiger-bait”… I laughed and let them know that I like both schools. Went to both, and grew up close to Lafayette with my dad taking me to both Tiger games and Cajun games.

They just smiled and walked off… they didn’t have Cajun accents so they were probably from far East La around Slidell or Nola, or North La or maybe out of State LSU Alum. Probably like most of you that keep trying to make this fake rivalry into something.

In real life, Cajun (people), and Cajun (fans) and LSU fans are all the same people in Acadiana.

I keep three flags in my shop - Ragin’ Cajuns, LSU Tigers, Saints. Lafayette area is full of the same. They mostly all support both schools.

Like I said before, LSUs main cultural identity is also Cajun culture.
I pull for ALL teams from Louisiana.

Favorites - LSU & USL

Funny that some LSU fans & Alum think “USL” is an insult to ULL. I preferred USL anyway.

Fake rivalry… almost everyone in Acadiana loves LSU.

LSU loves Acadiana too… “Geaux” “Hot Boudin, Cold Cush Cush (Couscous)” “Burreaux” etc… LSUs brand is largely built around Cajun culture. Where are most Cajuns? Acadiana…

This is dumb. I’m from south Louisiana and many of my friends and family didn’t allow shoes in the house growing up… shoes off at the door.
Guarantee Nick Saban could sell more books than Sean Payton.

More people know who Brian Kelly is than KM. That counts for something.

Can’t say that for any HS vs College coaches, so HS argument isn’t a good comparison.

College coaches in some cases make more money.

Bigger stadiums too…

The only NFL argument is “better athletes”

I’m a Saints & LSU fan, so I’m happy with the hire…sucks for LSU. I agree that there’s an argument to be made regarding the major universities vs NFL job
quote:

well, do you want LSU to be competitive or not?

Or you could just put more money in your child’s 529 account… or buy something nice for your wife… or get a new hobby outdoors that doesn’t require you to donate to college adults that you rely on for happiness and fulfillment.

This isn’t about bleeding purple and gold.
The point is… what would suggest that? LFs game vs Auburn was more dominant than Cecil’s.

Even Guice had better games than Cecile.

Based on the Cecil highlights and the games that I’ve watched since… Cecil was just another solid running back in a long history of great LSU running backs.

Cecil Collins vs Auburn
232 yards, 2 TD, Ave. 8.6, Long 48 yards

Fournette vs Auburn
228 yards, 3 TD, Ave. 12, Long 71 yards
169 at half. Limited 2nd half carries.
