You will find out in a few years once he has had a OCs and still doesn’t have an offense.

Will Florida be on their 4th or 5th coach by then?

Honest question no troll...what do South Carolina fans realistically expect?

South Carolina isn't a historically strong program. You are in the SEC. Clemson is in the midst of their best run in program history. Georgia is very strong infield and recruiting at this moment which limits some of your talent acquisition.

I thought your fan base was rightfully really pleased with this season?

I guess that's one way to put it.

You're right - we shouldn't hope or expect our team to try to even compete on a higher level and push for more success.

Pack it in, boys. No point in trying to get better.

I figured a UGA fan would understand. You guys weren't satisfied with what Richt was doing, why should we be satisfied with roper?

Hell richt is actually a good coach. roper just sucks

Pleased-sure.
Satisfied- not hardly.

Carolina left two wins on the table in UK and aTm. This team, as flawed as it is, should have won 10 games. The onus is on the offense, especially since the larger concentration of talent is on that side of the ball.

We were enjoying kicking Clemson's arse for half a decade, then the bottom fell out. We had four of five vs UGA. It's not unrealistic to expect those games to become competitive again, and even for Carolina to win their share of them.

Champ has his best shot at the East next year, before Mullen has UF back online. Better make the most of it, and a new OC at least provides hope.

I think we can realistically expect to have an OC who can competently call plays.

The season went well. 8 wins in year 2 of a major rebuild is nice, but it wasn't because the offense was lighting people up.

I expect an offense that can break the top 100 in numerous statistical categories.

Muschamp doesn't have what it takes to go out and get who this program needs. He makes the easy, most comfortable decision every time.

He should go hire the OkSt OC

He'll get another head coaching gig.

But if he doesn't, he's a great candidate at OC.

You joke but it's literally impossible for anyone to call a worse offense than Roper.

Oh, boy. Was gonna have some fun, but maybe on he can get it right on the fourth offensive coordinator.

The only thing about Sumlin is that he would only be here for one year max.

Honest answer. Everyone is fine with the 8 win season. However, everyone also realizes 1) wins were left on the table and 2) a good many of those wins were functions of the conference being down and not because we necessarily would have won otherwise.

Spurrier answered this himself many times over 10+ seasons - 'finish in the top half of the SEC in offense & defense'.

2016 scoring offense 14/14
2017 scoring offense 12/14 (UF, UTK)

2016 scoring defense 8/14
2017 scoring defense 6/14

I guess the second layer to the question is, do you honestly think that South Carolina has the same type of ceiling as Clemson, Georgia, Florida, etc?

If Spurrier cranking out 11 win seasons while surrounding teams were down is the standard and expectation, I have a feeling there will be a revolving door of coaches.

What ceiling? the only difference in one program from another is the coach the administration gets. You look at any blue blood program and the reason they are where they are is their administration nailed the HC hire 2 or 3 times, some even less. Dabo was a nobody when they rolled the dice on him and they won big. Before this year, what had UGA done without Dooley and Richt? What has anyone at UF done other than Spurrier and Meyer? Hell Bobby Bowden is in the top 5 coaches as far as wins and FSU hadn't done shite before he got there.

The reverse can also be said. There have been plenty of coaches that have gone to all of those places and shat the bed.

In short, its the coaches that make a program, not the other way around.
