God knows Starkville is not an easy sell. Despite this, they've made some really good coaching hires (and did it without a lot of drama)

Men's Basketball - Ben Howland (former coach of the year and 3 final four appearances)

Women's Basketball - Schaefer (hired in 2012 and team has gotten better each year. National Champions Runner up last year)

Baseball - Cannizaro (Rising star in baseball coaching and led a pretty rag-tag group to a super regional last year.)

Football - With drama swirling in every other coaching search, quietly hires a highly thought of coordinator whose scheme meshes with current roster. Doesn't overpay for him either.

Well done Bulldogs!

I have to agree, I actually believe they may have upgraded their football coach...

We may have from an X's and O's standpoint, but there is more to being an SEC coach than that.

First step is winning the press conference. Its something Mullen did really well. He had a good first day in Starkville yesterday, we'll see how today goes.

I'd give them half credit for the championship if I could. UConn would have won it for the 90th time in a row without MSU

Winning the press conference is always a good start.

Speaking of women's basketball, MSU beat Louisiana-Lafayette by 60 last night.

ULL had a point guard that was a biscuit away from 300 pounds. She had crossover moves like Iverson and could shoot the three. It was somewhat entertaining.

In recruiting news, Hevesy just picked up a rental car and is in route to Laffy as I type.

Yeah, Moorhead isn't the most energetic guy, but he seems to be saying and doing the right things, and is apparently great in a 1 on 1 situation.

Something I have never seen before- once the hire was official, and handful PSU and Fordham registered on the State free boards and congratulated us, answered our questions, mentioned that they were sad they lost him but he deserves the opportunity, and said that State was their second favorite team now.

I've never seen that before. He was beloved at all previous stops.

Without a doubt. I continue to be impressed with MSU on several levels. From coaching hires, facilities and the overall experience at away games I have been too.

MSU absolutely on the ups.

Don't pet them too much. tgrind has taught me, you can't be nice to MSU fans. This place becomes unbearable.

Damn, how can you play a sport like basketball and be THAT fat, especially when you are a starting guard (probably the position that is moving around the most).
