Conclave was a great movie 90% of the time

The final 10% seemed undeveloped, rushed and sorta lazy. So well acted but the ending just fell flat.
You're at the deer camp, on vacation, at a restaurant. You want to tell your funniest personal experience story to make the whole group laugh. What does your best story center around?
It’s wild for me to realize that my grandmother (born in 1913) knew Civil War veterans. WWII veterans to me were very similar to Civil War veterans to her.
50 and it was like my body was on a timer. Kinda prided myself on just doing the ole twist of the back, old man stretch before playing any kind of sport. Now I have to be deliberate about it.

20s-49 felt basically the same. Quick twitch, speed, agility seemed to stay pretty level (even though I know that probably wasn't the case). 50 I could actually feel being slower, not as reflexive or explosive. More nagging injuries/issues from 50-51 than ever experienced in 20-49. It was a good run.
I hoped Fairhope would remain the South's best kept secret. Looks like people discovered it.
North LA friend used a term I've never heard of. If you were bikeless and needed a ride from a friend who did have a bike, the friend would offer to "pump" you there. Meaning you could ride on the handlebars while the other person pedaled.

Checked with N La folk - all know the term
S LA folk - none know the term

what say you?

Reminded me of the end of The Graduate. Bold action driven by love but then a realization of "now what in the hell do we do?"
When conducting interviews, he'll still get feisty and testy but his intro reads on GMA are the very definition of phoning it in.

You bring up some interesting points, punctuation, and stylistic choices. There's a possibility I may agree but an equal possibility I may disagree.

Top earners in BR city parish government

BR Business Report released the top earners in BR city parish government in 2024. The top earner was an officer in BRPD who reported 2,107 hours of overtime. That's the equivalent of 263 8-hour days.

That's Trump-esque stamina.

Caribbean during hurricane season

Looking to go during the summer but would like to take the risk of hurricanes out of the equation. Looks like the best options are Costa Rica or ABC islands. Any suggestions?
Even the casual basketball fan knew everyone on the Dream Team and the college select team. I couldn't even begin to guess who would be on a college select team now.
Luckily, the vast majority of us prepared for this in the 80s. We can either shoot it (but then it will turn into smaller asteroids), thrust away (but then we just drift continuously) or go into hyperspace (but we may reappear directly in the path of another asteroid). These are really our only options.

re: NIL, school involvement and McMahon

Brian Kelly just raised $2M for NIL through the Bayou Traditions collective

Got no issues with that but again, the rule of thumb is no “pay for play” and the payor of NIL dollars has to get something in return. A commercial. A social media post. Something. What is a collective getting in return other than an athlete?

Not saying any of this is wrong but pretending schools aren’t doing pay for play because of semantics gymnastics is just so so stupid.

NIL, school involvement and McMahon

Posted by HoopyD on 2/17/25 at 6:00 pm
LSU says it’s sticking with McMahon and increasing its NIL spend. Even though supposedly there’s no such thing as pay for play and schools can’t be directly involved in NIL.

I’ve got no issues with LSU’s decision but this pretending there’s a wall between the school and NIL spend is so stupid. The whole system is a farce.
