Don't tell me what it is. That shite was born in the BIG XII, not Knoxville.
I know what it is. It was gimmicky bullshite when Art Briles developed it at Baylor, and it's gimmicky bullshite now. We ran it last year, and we thought it was gimmicky bullshite too, and teams flopped all over the field in our games last year all season long. That's why nobody cares Lebby left.
Gimmickry deserves gimmickry in response.
frick Herbstreit. He's a crier anyway.

Nothing they can do since officials don’t want to guess whether a player is faking or not.
The hell they can’t.
If a player is injured enough to stop play they’re out for the remainder of the quarter or the half for evaluation.
If a team wants them back they can call a time out to notify the officials he’s been checked by doctors and is ready to play.
Done.

Y’all need to think suggestions like this through. Guys who take a hard shot and need a few seconds to collect themselves would be held to this same standard. You want your star receiver out for a quarter because he took a hard hit? You couldn’t apply this just to players you suspect might be faking.

It's ok for offenses to exploit the substitution rules, but not ok for defenses?

That player should have to sit out until the next series.

It would stop if said player has to stay out the rest of the quarter or maybe more.
Even if he’s not a starter, they wouldn’t want that.

No, offenses run to the line and take play calls from the line instead of the huddle in order to make it impossible for the defense to substitute players.
Sometimes people run tempo, but it's mostly just to prevent substitutions. In fact, the playclock still gets low the majority of time and teams still have to call timeouts or barely get it off.
It exists because sometimes there are legit reasons to line up quickly, but it's exploited 100% of the time now.

ND in Athens in 2019 were some of the most egregious that I've ever seen

You mean Liberty. Far more deserving of a payoff nod than FSU.

The game evolves. There was a time when players played both ways.
Then the game evolved became more specialized. Not only does a guy not play both sides, he only plays in specific situations.
It has evolved again. Defensive players must be more versatile. You have to be efficient in all phases. Pass rush, stop the run, defend in coverage. When your substitutions are limited, the guys on the field have to able to do the job at hand.
The Flying Wedge ain't coming back.

You’re a cry baby bitch. Y’all ran tempo last night, just don’t do it as good as we do!

That’s what kills me about this board. Let Uatu help out. EVERY man jack on here (and educated ladies) has a join date and an initial post. If a post is interesting, I will read it. If a post is asinine, I ignore it. Simple, really.

I don’t think most players are safely evaluated in game right now because they and the coaches want them back in the game to compete asap.
Talk to former players if you really think these medical staffs are always upfront and honest with the players as to the risks of going back in.
And don’t get me started on concussion protocols that clear players in a play or two to go back in when you’d need a full appt with a specialist to figure out what your situation and risk profile is.
So yes, I’m fine with my players sitting longer to get checked out, not just because I’m annoyed at coaches using injuries to impact uptempo offenses.
There was a play last year in Tuscaloosa where a player was so concussed they couldn’t even find their helmet yet they were back on the field that same drive. That’s BS.

Football used to be an awesome game of chess. OCs and DCs getting the right personnel on the field with respect to down and distance. Now it’s just a game of checkers. So, while I hate players flopping, I despise what these HUNH coaches have done to the game even more. And when you combine it with the BS pass interference calls and the BS “late hit” calls on QBs and so-called “defenseless players” I’m honestly Ok with a player flopping.
