These are all the receipts anyone ever needs to invalidate any point you try to make about college football.

That's what you said 3 years ago, so I'll take your prediction with all the consideration it deserves.

He’s only been there 3 years, you’ve only been here a little over 4 months. You have no idea what I said when he was hired and I certainly didn’t say that. Maybe you guys will retain him, you do seem to celebrate mediocrity these days.

What has Kirby to coach for? He has already done everything there is to do. Let him enjoy his retirement while he is still young.

Legacy. These guys have egos that demand longevity. I could see Kirby trying the NFL before he quits football. And that's a long shot.

Here's hoping he stays and continues his 1-5 run against Alabama. Unlike Georgia posters on here jumping for joy when Saban retired, I don't feel that way about Kirby. In the first place I like and respect him from his days at Bama. Secondly, if you're going to be the best you should be able to beat the best, not hope and pray for a weaker coach.

That is true, but if I were Kirby I would get out before the decline.

"Smart isn't really a great coach...."

Dude, this comment along with the assinine comments you've made about Saban in this thread has confirmed....you know nothing about college football and you have destroyed any semblance of credibility you have had or will ever have on this forum. You might as well go away and never return or post here again.

fat Josh might want to establish a winning record against sun belt billy and Shane Beamer before thinking about Kirby

The program was ready for the next step when Richt was fired. Richt did that. The programmatic changes that took place when Mark Richt was coaching at UGA were HUGE. Smart has said so himself, numerous times. Had those changes not taken place at UGA Mark Richt would not have averaged 10 wins a season He would not have lasted 14 years at UGA. UGA would have, most likely, continued to hire coaches who managed to win more than they lost, the supporters would have been good for years 2-4 and by year 5 the search would be on again. Mark Richt corrected the ship after Dooley's departure...UGA was in a BAD place programmatically when he was hired. He managed to get the university and the boosters to expect more than 8-4 seasons. UGA would have had a series of bad coaching decisions dating back to Dooley leaving the year that Smart was hired. Being an alumni is one thing but having a job at a university willing to use its resources to help you succeed is a whole other can o worms. UGA was not that University until Mark Richt made them that University. UGA fans largely understand and appreciate what Mark Richt did for UGA. It is no small thing, it has made a helluva difference.

Well, you got another Georgia fan arguing in another thread that the program was in the worst shape since the mid 90s before Richt took over.

That person is a dumbass however, so I don't think too much of it.

I understand being appreciative of the previous guy. Shula kept Alabama clean well enough to lead to Saban. If Alabama was still going through sanctions and things Shula dealt with, I doubt Saban comes.

I'll always be thankful for what Shula did.

But I can't at the same time say Shula lead to Saban or that Shula built anything Saban did. Just wouldn't be true. Saban came in and change everything immediately.

And I believe Kirby was hired to turn Georgia into Alabama, and that is what Kirby built off. Even his early recruiting material was heavily featuring accomplishments at Alabama. Sure, probably inherited a better situation than Saban, no doubt about that. But I still think Kirby did his own thing.

Hella mileage on you as an SEC HC.
If I were a sec HC w/ a $100MM+ contract, I’d probably retire at the completion, maybe 55 for Kirby?

Now id coach til 65-70 if I were at a school like OK St., Iowa or some other perpetual 8-5/9-4 school and they were cool w me staying

1. Of course you don’t realize we aren’t talking about the same thing.
2. Of course you don’t understand what the points being made are.

The 2 points can be true at the same time, as they aren’t mutually exclusive, but when one struggles reading like you do……

Lane Kiffin: Current head coach. Has Ole Miss in the top ten preseason

Steve Sarkisian: Current head coach. In the CFP last year.

Tbf I think you would jump for joy if a guy blue balled your team for 12 years, was always a little (or a lot) better than you, DIRECTLY blocked your chances at glory over and over, and somehow came back to haunt you one MORE time after you thought the demons were exorcised.

The series was the most lopsided it's ever been, at 7 straight Bama wins before the 2021 NC game. Saban was pretty much even worse than 90s Spurrier for UGA

Kiffin, Sark, and maybe Dabol were the only good OCs for Saban. I will say at least Obrien was honest with Milroe about needing to switch positions.
