That Spurrier quote was when he was at South Carolina.

Ironically, Stephen Garcia was suspended 6 times and never missed a game.
But that 7th time. Man... nobody pisses off Spurrier 7 times. Garcia will never forget the wrath of Spurrier for that 7th time.

Nah. Probably a 2 seed in BCS era.

It’s cool Florida used to be good at football. Maybe one day they can be relevant again.

Stetson more talented in all three, mind, arm, and feet than all of SOSs noodle armed qbs who feasted on defenses that were built to stop the power run game....

"1980" was so much easier wasn't it?

This is the problem with comparing different eras. Spurrier's Florida teams would have made the playoffs in 1991, 1995, 1996, 1998 and 2001. Pre-playoff Georgia would have been left out in 2017 and 2021. You can't really compare NCs from pre-BCS to BCS to playoff eras.

Yeah because it was easier to win NC before you had to play 15 games to win them. Spurrier only had to win the SEC and a Bowl game most years.

UGA would’ve been NC in 2017 with the overtime Rose Bowl win over Oklahoma and with the perfect season and Peach Bowl win over Ohio St in 22 so Kirby still has 2.

You might want to double check your numbers. SOS was one of the best ever and while he owned UGA while in Gainesville, he spent a little time in Columbia where he didn't do as well against the Dawgs.

Uh, sure. But UGA didn’t do as well against the Cocks as it has under any of our other coaches.

Of course, you're confused. You're a slimy Gator.

Georgia leads Florida all-time 55-44-2. Which team is leading?

BTW...Spurrier won all his games vs. Dawgs during UGA's worst run of football since 1950s. I doubt VERY SERIOUSLY he would've even had a winning record vs. UGA over the past 10 years.

It's really sad Florida fans have only Spurrier to hang their hat on when it comes to success vs. the mighty Red & Black.

Oh and title fail Kirby is 5-2 against Florida. Really does anyone see Florida winning a game in the series anytime soon?

Mark Richt ran Spurrier’s @ss completely out of the sport to the tune of 52-20.

Also - Spurrier will never have more national championships or undefeated seasons than Smart. Spurrier quit on his team in the middle of the season - something no coach does (that has any shame).

Smart is the better college coach. No question.

Let this not distract you from the fact that F2orida is too poor to pay Jaden Rashada

Like Orgeron, Jones was fired to fast for incompetence before Kirby could bury them.

I have no love for UF, but I always hated this argument because it always ignores the other side. Sure, UF's great '90s teams beat up on UGA when they were mostly average-to-good. But most of UGA's wins vs UF under Kirby also came against average-to-bad Gator teams. So if Spurrier's wins should be disregarded as being anything meaningful because UGA wasn't great, why should Kirby's wins over UF be seen as any different?

Some of the Gator teams Kirby has won over:
2022: 6-7
2021: 6-7
2017: 4-7
