Louisiana Governor Suggests Pulling Scholarships

quote:

Louisiana’s governor tweeted this week that he thinks that a college athlete who is not present for the national anthem as it’s played before games should have his or her scholarship revoked.

It is now an international story.

Kim Mulkey, for whatever reason, seems to be in the crosshairs of the media. That is a tough place to be.

That's also the same governor who wouldn't condemn the January 6th insurrection.

He's not very smart.

I wonder if LSU will show the same amount of support for Mulkey as they did Will Wade.

You're trying, buddy. I'll give you credit there.

You're just not very good at this.

She is the current Defending and 4 x national Championship head coach, which is second among active coaches.

She has Championships as a assistant and Player

She is a gold medalist

She is already in the Basketball hall of Fame...

And I like her more for standing up for herself and players during all of this manufactured clickbait noise, where people are apologizing to her.. not the other way around.

Some of the downvoters either didn't or can't read. OP seems to be asking a very good question..

I personally like Kim Mulkey and truly admire her She's legit one of the best coaches of all time who's unfortunately being put in a "no-win" situation.. She's ad heartbroken as everyone about the loss and now she's gotta deal with this woke garbage...

If you're being attacked from all sides then you must be doing something right. If Kim Mulkey wasn't a 4 time national champion coaching at a southern school no one in the media would give a shite.

The cool thing about this thread is it isn’t really even about women’s basketball.

I was surprised to see a story about Mulkey on MSNBC’s front page this morning. Of course their angle is that this is an attack by Landry that is all rooted in racism and bigotry. But the picture is of Mulkey in her green leprechaun suit. It will be interesting to see when this quits being a story.

How much will this past week impact Kim Mulkey’s reputation and legacy? It was a bad week; the hit piece, the loss, the national anthem debacle that has become a bigger story than the game.

The writer for the LA Times publicly apologized for the "hit piece." Black African American women are going to stream to LSU for the manner and passion the head coach stood up for them. And you'd better believe it son. The national anthem is a political stick that the LA governor is going to soon regret. Think KKK politician attacking the Soggy Bottom Boys on Brother Where Art Thou?p

She's an elite coach with multiple national titles. Nothing written about her will change that. And she isn't done winning them. I'm not an LSU fan, but their status as an elite WBB program will continue so long as she's there.

The world will forget about it all after sunday, and when she crushes the transfer portal again it will be fine. Kim, as much as I dislike her, isn't going anywhere. Especially if LSU is going to keep giving NIL money

I don't see how any true american can support that a-hole governor. Forced Patriotism isn't freedom, and has never worked anywhere. Freedom allows americans to express any opinion they want, even if it is to not respect the flag or anthem. Thinking players should lose their scholarships over not being present for the anthem is Fascist af
