Momentoftruth is never going to get over kiffin going to ole miss instead of Arkansas. I don't get it, he never even coached there. It's been 5 years, let it go.

You’re not good because of Kiffin, I never wanted him. You’re doing good because you spent a shite ton of money on your team.

The conference is going to do what's best for the conference as it relates to its path to a national title. "They" wanted us to play "better" out of conference games so we did that, and it hasn't paid one ounce of dividends in the playoff rankings. So it wouldn't surprise me one bit if our teams don't go back to scheduling cupcake OOC games to get backups more reps and starters some rest.
If this year's and future playoff committees "punish" the SECCG loser in favor of other SEC teams who didn't make the SECCG, then you damn right the conference title game will be looked at by the conference, because the most important title is the national title.

Ole Puss should know. They've never played in one either.

The committee would set an unbelievably bad precedent in year 1 of this format by leaving out the SECCG loser.
After the FSU fiasco, nothing would surprise me and I can understand exactly why Lane wouldn't want to be in the SECCG.
A three loss team has no leverage at all when you are dealing with guaranteed slots for 5 conference champions.
And the TV media folks are not going to leave out Notre Dame because of the size of their fan base even if they did lose to Northern Illinois.
I see no reason not to go back to SEC co-champion titles since there are now 16 teams involved.

Lane isn’t going to the SEC CG regardless if he could or not
He’s not wrong though. Hypothetically, say Georgia gets into the SEC Championship, by virtue of the SEC’s complicated and crazy tiebreaker formula. Everything goes wrong, (unlucky turnovers, a tipped ball, wherever and they get thumped by Texas. So the CFP committee leaves them out of the playoffs.
A complicated crazy tie breaker formula gets them into the SEC championship which should be a reward. But, it turns into a curse.
Make it make sense! Thats why coaches don’t want to go.

The bad precedent is auto bids for everyone and guaranteeing even garbage conference champs a bye.

Well Bama got to play in the National Title game by not making the SEC championship game, so the precedent has been set.

And wouldn't it be dumb luck for Old Miss to finally be in a position to make the playoffs only to be knocked off by being forced to play in Atlanta?

Why don't the schools just band together and give the SEC office a few million to cancel it.
I'm not sure the order is correct. The SEC (Sankey) serves as the behest of the presidents. The schools aren't giving Sankey anything. What will happen, I think, is the presidents push the conf commissioners to push the CFO to adopt a no harm agreement. Participating in a conf champ can only benefit a team ...or if someone is 13 or 9 and play a significantly higher ranked team close...the they can move up a spot or two over teams that weren't in a conf championship. Otherwise conf champ losers stay locked in

Wonder if every player from both teams could opt out of game? The SEC would be forced to get rid of game.

This. It should simply be the top 12 ranked teams with 1-4 getting the byes.
Just wait until one year when a 9-3 or 8-4 team steals a spot thanks to conference auto-bids.

Ole Miss fans: We never cared about the SECCG, anyway.

The losers aren't always locked-in. If their losses are non-conference losses, they could be a 3 or 4 loss team. They shouldn't get it in the first place, much less if they lose the conference championship game. The game is stupid now. It should be canceled, plain and simple.
