SEC Rules Violated by Kiffin
Kiffin's actions have raised concerns within the SEC.
Recruitment of NFL Players — Kiffin attempted to recruit former NFL players, violating new SEC rules against signing such athletes.
Lack of Institutional Control — The SEC criticized LSU for failing to manage Kiffin's actions effectively.
Emergency Ban Compliance — LSU's leadership voted against Kiffin's approach, which contradicted the SEC's emergency ban on former professional athletes returning to college.
Legal Challenges — Kiffin's defiance has led to legal disputes, violating LSU's compliance with SEC regulations.
Anyone can use AI, tell us which rules were broken exactly.

Get your facts straight.
Got this dude over here talking about lack of institutional control when we got the Kentucky coach openly telling people to sneak alcohol into the stadium and we got Pete Golding talking about taking all of college football down if they come after him. But, let's focus on a joke Kiffin made at halftime that was no different than him saying "get your popcorn ready." Kiffin has broken this board into oblivion.

The SEC would be inviting that lawsuit. If it really was willing to go down that road, wouldn't it be a lot more logical to just expel LSU, now?
quote:
Either we have a conference or we don’t. LSU doesn’t get to decide which rules they choose to agree with…. Rules which their administration signed off on by the way. If the sanctions handed down are agreed upon by the members under the bylaws of the conference you must accept. You don’t get to pick and choose. You don’t have to be a member of the SEC if you don’t agree with it.
Your feelings are in the way. It's kind of pathetic. Try and discuss this logically.
What rules are you referring to?
LSU wants to be in the SEC. But, LSU doesn't want to be in the SEC if being in the SEC means having to accept punishment and other sanctions (revenue withholding) without even breaking a rule? That's especially true when you had Alabama actually PLAY a professional just last year with zero punishment. And, you have Ole Miss CURRENTLY playing a QB deemed ineligible and playing under a TRO.
If the SEC was going to go down the road you are emoting about, it would just expel LSU now.
You are one of the few Alabama fans I've seen looking for the SEC to solve your Lane problem. It's good to see. For a minute I was thinking Alabama might be immune.

I am talking about a hypothetical here. You guys keep saying that but the conference seems to believe that LSU exhibits à lack of institutional control and they are probably right. Regardless, I am assuming there are pathways to address your objections within the construct of the conference procedures. If in the judgement of the conference and all the members that LSU is breaking rules or there are concerns about LSU’s ’ governance and oversight, you can decide to accept it or not. If not, then we are talking about a doomsday scenario where LSU leaves or is told to leave the SEC.

No, we don't have to accept sanctions for rules that we didn't break.

Go ahead suspend him. I’m willing to bet that LSU will not accept sanctions, suspensions, or fines for NOT breaking any rules. Testing recent rulings/exploiting loopholes or hurting feelings is not something that warrants heavy fines, suspension, sanctions, etc.
Many of yall think the SEC can do whatever it wants for whatever reason with impunity. That is simply NOT true. The SEC still has legal frameworks to navigate. They could kick us out for not complying with whatever they dish out, but I guarantee you there will be hell to pay. The SEC would be basically at war (in a legal sense) with the state of Louisiana. Hopefully cooler heads prevail and we get past this reckless game of chicken.

Probably not. All he did was say things. He has a right to do that. You can't silence public officials for their opinions. That's his first amendment right.
The SEC can absolutely punish someone for saying things they deem to undermine or damage the conference or another member of the conference.
Just because you have the right to say something without being punished by the U.S. government does not mean you are free from consequences for saying them. People lose their jobs every day for saying things protected by free speech. The right to say something doesn’t protect you from potential consequences of saying something.

I don’t understand the lack of oversight concern if no rules were broken. If no rule were broken, seems like LSU has good leadership, right?

Well if AI says he is guilty

Its hard to have a lack of institutional control when no rules have been broken. The very fact that LSU has played by the rules shows some sort of control over the program. You can't base punishments based on vibes and emotions, you need actual evidence.

Nevermind, i see you are also ruled by emotions and not a critical thinker. Carry on

If lsu agrees to any penalties, the fanbase will revolt. The lsu admins aren’t stupid enough to agree to anything but play ball.

If the conference attempts to sanction LSU with no actual proof of wrongdoing, I assume LSU would decline the sanctions. If the SEC then kicks LSU out, I assume LSU (and likely the state) would sue the conference for anything they could halfway get to stick.
Best case scenario for the conference is they're tied up in litigation for awhile, worst case, the conference ends up killing itself over LSU.
Doesn't seem worth the risk, unless you have some significant proof of significant wrongdoing.

Based on fricking what? Paul Finebaum's opinion?
Guy is a fricking idiot. He only knows what Sankey tells him to say.

11 SEC institutions have been charged with LOIC. LSU isn't one of them. Let's see your fricking oversight.

violating new SEC rules against signing such athletes.
Didn't sign them. Thought about it, didn't do it. Not a violation.
quote:
The SEC criticized LSU for failing to manage Kiffin's actions effectively
Go read the SEC specific bylaw on LOIC. LSU followed the Bylaws exactly as written and, in fact, showed institutional control when it abided by the new professional rule instituted and agreed upon by LSU.
quote:
LSU's leadership voted against Kiffin's approach, which contradicted the SEC's emergency ban on former professional athletes returning to college.
This happens in every member school of the SEC where the President or AD is in charge of keeping coaches and administrators in line with following the rules. LSU did exactly this by not rostering the players. LSU/Kiffin considering rostering a player is not a violation.
quote:
Kiffin's defiance has led to legal disputes, violating LSU's compliance with SEC regulations.
What are the regulations that LSU did not comply with?
Everything you mentioned is evidence that the SEC didn't like what LSU/Kiffin was doing but at no time did LSU's actions violate a rule set forth in the Bylaws of the SEC. They are letting emotions dictate their response.
The SEC sued LSU with the stated intention of being able to "enforce its rules". Well, if the SEC is going to follow its rules then any punishment it puts forth will have to cite what rule was broken.

I am not looking to the conference to solve my problem. The conference is stronger with LSU that without it.I am not informed enough to know if LSU broke rules or not. They certainly have no problem pushing the envelope that’s for sure.
You guys seem to think the conference rules don’t apply to you and threaten to run to court (some local Baton Rogue homer) to get your way when decisions come down you don’t agree with,

That'd go over extremely well for the SEC. For sure.
Coaches have been saying a lot of things for a long time, Kiffin's lawyers would simply start playing clip after clip, including Josh Heupel insinuating that Tennessee fans should stock up on projectiles to throw at Kiffin at SEC media days.
Selective enforcement sank the NCAA, and the SEC seems intent on following the same road.
