It's a really bad matchup for Kentucky any way you look at it.

Whats there to hate about State?
The fact that Mike leach isn't also doing post game pressers for Stoops

Yeah our O Line has been trash this year. I'm kinda amazed levis has only missed 1 game due to injury just based off how many hits he's had to take
C Rod meanwhile seems to just break the first tackle and move on

I have watched about 5 mins of Kentucky all season so this is really surprising to me
Have you not see what all of us have been posting all season?
Our Oline has been awful, dreadful, terrible, worseful, etc.
Now, they did have their best game last week against State, but then that was State.

I think many VOLS bought the preseason Kentucky hype and then got so distracted by our own success that we aren't up to speed on the current situation up in Lexington.
It sounds like this could be a fairly good matchup for VOLS defense. We spent a lot of time in Bama's backfield, and I'm not sure Levis has BY's mobility and elusiveness.

I expect it to be a tough game. I’ve been a VOLS fan for far too long to assume anything about any game on the schedule. Oh how soon people forget.

I hate Kentucky with a burning passion but I’ll be dead honest. I’m really worried about this game. Our secondary is a level of bad that’s hard to understand and the KY receivers and Levis can make some big plays.
I think it comes down to us stopping your run game which we have done all year. If we force Kentucky to throw it more than they want to, either Levis will make a mistake or they can’t complete enough consecutive passes to move the sticks and they have to punt a few times.
We have out Gained our SEC opponents on the ground by over 2 to 1. When you consider we’ve played Bama,LSU, and UF that’s pretty damn good.

I don’t expect us to win this one unless the OL takes another significant step in protection of Levis. UT has a good run defense so you can’t rely on CRod as we have in other games.
And while our defense has been really good this season, it’s a tall task to slow down that offense.
Best bet is for rain and shite to get uglied up.

It's the perfect definition of a trap game.

Crap - perfect football weather forecast for Saturday - party sunny and 70 degrees for the high.
Will pray for mix of rain and snow with high of 30. Winds gusting at 30 mph.
Don't like UT, but as a football fan, I like to see them getting back to their elite selves in the CF world. No consolation in just keeping it close, I hope UK comes in fully intending to win and makes it a good competitive game.

It'll be a tough game for the first 25 mns or so.
Then UT pulls away, wins something like 45-17, 45-24.

quote:We have better receivers this year. Last year we only had Wandale. We have 3-5 really solid receivers this year. Oline is definitely worse this year. They’ve seemed to get better at run blocking but pass blocking still stinks
Last years Kentucky team had better receivers and a good offensive line. I’m hoping that ends up being a problem on Saturday

I'm not expecting a win. If our O line was even playing average I'd feel alot better about it.
Our defense is good but not great at creating turnovers and pressure. It would be awesome if Brad White dialed up some new blitz packages over the bye.

From listening to talk radio here in Lexington and perusing some UK message boards, it seems that Kentucky rarely blitzes. They prefer to sit back and play soft zone.
Normally, you are exactly correct.
Yet, against MSU - and no one was more surprised than me - Kentucky sent pressure. And it worked like a charm. They have kids, at all four LB spots, that can run.
I'm not ready to build Mark Stoops a statue. One reason, other than the awful play calling where you can see him take over and influence the offense, is the "keep it in front of us" defense.
That shite is how Tennessee broke 40 points last year with less than 15 minutes of possession. To stop Hooker, you must play tight at the DBs and pressure his arse, then run him down.
Sit back ? He'll pick you apart all damn day.

And moved up ... then back ... both quickly. Smells to me like Vegas is not sure which way to go on this.
I dunna' ... because I honestly do not trust Will Levis or Rich Scangarello. I expect them both to give Tennessee points. One is gone next year. Hopefully, the other shortly after.
The defense will play. Tennessee will score less points than against Alabama. That's nutty to say. Yet I do believe it.
Rodriguez will get 100+ yards. And, if it goes the way I fear, half the carries in the second half as the first.
Have I mentioned that I'd really, really like Rich Scangarello to find other employment ? I don't care where.

Tennessee is a big play offense. You don’t want 1 on 1 situations. They’d do best to sit back in a soft zone and rush 3 and hope you can stop the run or they mess up.

That's basically the Stoops special. Zone it up, tackle on the short stuff and make the other team drive. 60% of the time it works every time

I’m absolutely not looking ahead to Georgia. I didn’t even look past UT-Martin. I’m too scarred as a Tennessee fan to take any game for granted.
Having said that, the evidence is there to suggest that this is a mature team that won’t look past anybody. If that’s the case, Kentucky’s going to have a really hard time keeping up with our offense.
I’d predict Levis throwing for something in the 300-400 yard range against our glorious band of walk-ons in the secondary and Kentucky putting up points, but not enough to keep it within two scores.

I'm really hoping Kentucky goes with this brilliant strategy
