Why is it everyone that isn’t a Gump can see Deboer is going to sink their program?

I like to remember the happy times, like the time he was skull fricking LSU at night in Tiger Stadium.

In the old days, players were looking for stability so they wanted to know the guys that recruited them are going to be there. Now a days, with the one and dones, I'm not sure why this is necessary. Not my money so y'all spend it the way you want but Andy Griffith would say "Curus, real curus" (Curious)

ESPN is reporting that his buyout is only $10M

Considering Hugh Freeze was paid near $16M despite being off the scrap heap, Bama is just fine extendinghim

Why do you care? And how do you define “sink their program?”
DeBoer ain’t Saban and no one at Bama expects him to be.

Typical Corndog talking trash, with no room to talk. Congrats on the 7 win season last year.

As an lsu fan this comment confirms that you could be 9 or 90 years old. Childish at any age. What’s your excuse when Bama stomps another mud hole in your asses next year? I know I’ve heard it before and will again.

You literally typed out the words “smoked lsu titties”. You are a dumb fricking idiot, but by all means, please continue your diatribe.

I may be the only Bama fan that's OK with this.

Some fans want the coach to either win it all or pack their bags........but they can't name a replacement with a better resume.

Not even close to correct. ESPN is reporting that Deboer would owe 10M if HE left after year one. Bama would owe him 90% of the contract, with no offset, if he's fired. Absolutely crazy.

Listen, I like Bama. The only southern team I abhor is UGA but that’s purely out of respect for the rivalry with my team. Deboer is not a bad coach at all. But he is in a no win situation at Bama. I think 5 years ago he would have been able to win a Natty at Bama the same way Chizik won one at Auburn - because of the bagman pipeline. But he came in at the worse time he could have - which shows how genius Saban was to “retire” just before he was exposed.

That fanbase won’t settle for 9-3 or 8-4 which is what Deboer is especially losing his NFL QB.

We’ve seen dynasties come to end in many sports over the last several decades - and it’s rarely pretty. Add in a crazy fanbase and they will eat DeBoer up within the next 2 seasons. Then he’ll either be fired or he’ll resign and end up at a BIG school and have success while Bama moves on to the next shiny coach who will have no major advantage at Bama in this new era.

I guess that's just harder to see if he hasn't whipped your team's arse every time he's coached against them.

The new definition of "success" at Alabama.

Beat Auburn
Beat LSU
Win a 12 team playoff game then get blown out in the next round
Finish barely in the top 10.

Automatic contract extension.

So... No win situation. OK you didn't say what coach you want.

That's all you need to say. Who is your replacement coach?

Dubose -2 ?

That's normal. Some on this site think Bama Fans will jump off the wagon if we don't win it all every other year,

Some will,

It will separate the true fans from the sidewalk.

Beating Auburn was always a prerequisite for keeping your job. Just ask Bill Curry. He won the SEC in 1989 but we ran him off because he failed to beat Auburn.

It is actually much easier for Kalen DeBoer to keep his job in 2026 then it has been for any previous Alabama head coach since the start of the Poll Era. All you have to do is beat Auburn and Tennessee consistently while also making it to the CFP. And with expansion to 24 teams seeming ever more likely, it gets even easier.

Alabama fans don't expect a national championship every year.
