Too bad tigerrant wasn't around. Would have been some interesting fireworks regarding that final LSU play call.

If Miles ever did something like that.....yikes

Wild finish indeed. Marvin Constant's career was actually ended on that play, while making the tackle (see: LINK). Ironically, I think that the SEC office later acknowledged that the refs should have stopped the clock with the injury, which would have given LSU another play.

There's nothing ironic about what happened. LSU (once again) got fricked by Alabama in bizarre fashion

Yeah many games have been lost that way.

When you are out of timeouts and near the goal line with very little time left you throw into the endzone every play until the very last play (4th down or clock), in which case you can then run or pass.

Running the ball too early in that situation with no timeouts just loses the game if you don't make it.

I'm guessing on this exact play it was more the LSU QB who messed up. It was a roll out and the coaches probably told him to throw the ball, unless it was an easy run in, he incorrectly thought he could get in.

Alabama was winning 23-7 and I think Tyler Watts got injured, so Andrew Zow came in late and decided to try and single handedly lose the game. That was one of those weird JP games where fricking anything could happen.

SEC Champs. Beat Spurrier twice in one year, at UF and in Atlanta.

And lost to La Tech at home and blew TWO 14 point leads in an Orange Bowl loss to Tom Brady's Michigan.

The missed XP in OT game? Wasn't our Outland Trophy winning LT suspended for the bowl game?

I knew exactly what that play was going to be before I watched it. Booty thought he could do anything!

I really believe that wasn't so much a "coaching" issue as a qb who thought he was superman & would often take matters into his own hands & try to be a hero issue.

Yep. Won the SEC. Shaun Alexander was SEC player of the year.

No, you are thinking of Andre Smith in 2008 against Utah.

Our LT in 1999 was Chris Samuels, if my memory serves me.

You are correct. He went on to have a pretty good career with the Redskins.

Chris Samuels was out for the Orange Bowl though. Had a knee injury.
