He was brilliant and athletic but picture Cam Newton or Joe Burrow with Mike Evans to play catch with….

Evans doesn’t get enough credit

0-3 vs LSU. Chavis kept him in the pocket.

LSU was 2-0 against Johnny Football, not 3-0.

I would take Manziel over Burrow and Cam with all other things being equal. He was just the most electric out of the three after a play broke down. Burrow is great with good receivers though. But Manziel and Cam were just as electric on their feet as much as through the air.

This! Cam Newton made players around him look better than they were. Manziel was the opposite. Hail Mary-type passes to Mike Evans? He comes down with the ball! Manziel got the credit because he ran around a few DTs and heaved the ball up.

He was good at getting out of a jam. He wasn't "good". Melt away aggy.

Two of those 3 guys won a Natty, the other didn't even sniff a conference title. One of these guys was in a Super Bowl, the other the starting QB in the AFC championship game. The other was sniffing coke off of a stripper's arse. You might want to go look up some Cam highlights in college. Manziel ran for his life, so did Cam, but only one of these guys trucked linebackers on a regular basis.

Put Cam on that TAM team, they are in the Natty game. Put Manziel on the 2010 Auburn team, they finish 6-6 AT BEST!

This board, circa September 2012: "Wait till he tries that scramblin shite against da SEC, it ain't gonna work. He's gonna get killed!"

Good times

No, he doesn't. Physically dominant. When RSJ was rehabbing his knee, he was routinely taking the ball away amidst constant double coverage.

That enabling starts with the parents. They enabled him too. Always looking for ways to get out of trouble with schemes and lies.

This is true. It’s also true that Johnny led the SEC in rushing yards as a freshman QB, obliterated the SEC single-season total yardage record, etc…

It wasn’t all smoke and mirrors and Mike evans.

John Pigskin was a superstar.

He brought A&M their only double digit win season since 1998.

Manziel doesn't have the talent on par with those two.
