Just Go Ahead and Move Forward With Playing With No Fans

And refund all the season ticket holders. If things are still looking good and some number of fans can attend hold a lottery for each game out of the pool who opted to stay in to attend. Either let them in free as a reward for their loyalty or charge some reduced amount to cover game day costs for screening/parking etc.

Just let the students attend

Honestly.. If the students are gonna be next to each other on campus this only makes sense.

Yep, all students and a band would be great.

Honestly more and more people would rather sit in the comfort of their home rather than be stuffed in a stadium like sardines. I think you are going to start seeing less seats but more entertainment/services provided at games.
Will be further down the road, but I expect professional teams will stop putting as much emphasis on their geographical location in their marketing so it's easier for them to build a brand base outside of the area.

Already happening with the $107 million renovation at Bryant-Denny Stadium, with new club and loge boxes and reduced seating capacity.

I’d also expect tv timeouts to get longer and longer. They’ll chalk them up to additional “health and welfare” breaks I’m sure.

This is a really good idea actually. Print tickets for every other seat. Would make the TV experience much closer to a regular game too.

Put the players in a bubble on campus. All in one dorm, training table. It seems to be working for the NBA.

Both the blues and cardinals have removed GA seats to add party suites and bar areas where anyone can gather.
Mizzou also did this.

That sounds like a wonderful idea. We can have fans, but let's ONLY let in those who either get in free or at a very reduced price.
It's not like ticket sales and donations of fans with large sums of money are the single biggest source of revenue for the athletic programs. Maybe the students can venmo $2-$3 each to fund the lavish locker rooms or 13 analyst on the football staffs

Nah. Until someone can post actual data that more than 1% of the population is at risk of serious complications, let humans in a free country decide if they want to attend a sporting event.

People who go to games without dumbass cowbells probably feel differently

quote:Here's the problem: football ticket prices vary upon where they are in the stadium. You've sold X ticket in your top tier; now, thanks to social distancing, you've only got 1/2X to sell at that price level. If the folks that get bumped from the top tier still want tickets, you've got to give them a pro-rated refund, then bump the folks in tier 2, etc., etc. By the time it's all done, you've pissed off everyone, and still written a huge amount of refund checks. Other than for suites and maybe some club seats, I'm not sure it's going to be worth the long term cost in customer relations to go through a full shuffling of the deck.

That's one reason I've leaned towards no fans being the most likely.
Even at 25% capacity (which pisses off the other 75%), how do you decide who gets those tickets?
If you base it off a points system for high donors, those donors will be pissed when they have to lose their usual seats and spread all around the stadium.
Not to mention the idea of having thousands of people coming onto campus from all over the region.
Students-only makes more sense, and most of them will be too drunk to care where they sit.
