Sorry you feel like you need to act superior to the people you live around. Good luck dealing with that.

I do not feel at all superior to the people that I live around. I am talking about college football, not real life.

I know lots of good people in Alabama. The fact that most of the people that I know here just want to jaw with the opposing fan base and don't really know that much about football itself is not a slam on anyone. That is how they do college football here. It doesn't make them inferior as people. It is fun - not real.

No you're actually talking about a radio show and telling people if they like it they're wrong because they don't share your outlook on a radio program/like soap operas/aren't really fans of the game

Allow me to pluck the low hanging fruit, but that's what a rivalry is. It doesn't make a fan less knowledgeable than another fan because they want to berate a rival. It may, and likely does, make us look like idiots more often than not because we appear antisocial, but that doesn't equate to a lack of football knowledge.

Also, none of these things have to do with a radio show using up a segment or two to discuss what i consider relevant sports stories right now as opposed to just having those same people you're chastising calling in and saying roll tide, war eagle all day or saying, damn mississippi schools are good, so are the alabama schools over and over.

No, but it does play into what I am actually talking about. There is no real appetite here to actually talk about the games and the teams for any extended basis. I get that this is college football country. So, ok. On the Monday after week 8 with 4 of the top 5 in the SEC West, how about if you actually talk about college football in a relevant way? Why spend an hour talking about if Muschamp might end up as Sumlin's DC? I can almost guarantee that that isn't going to happen. They pulled it out of thin air. It was an interesting thought to them so they talked about it for an hour and then brought in Art Briles and wondered how he would do at Florida.

That is horrible radio. They weren't even responding to a rumor. They were just making stuff up. So, it absolutely fits what I am talking about. There is no desire to actually talk about the games or the teams that are relevant on the Monday after Week 8 of the college football season. Instead, they are making stuff up and asking each other what they think about the thought they just had.

If you want to listen to 3 guys make stuff up and then give their opinion on it for an hour, then be my guest. I would give them a pass if it were May and they had to fill a 4 hour show. I don't know how they do it. But, I think that that is part of the problem. They get used to making stuff up and giving their opinion on it all year round and then when we are actually in football season, they don't know how to pivot to talk about anything of substance. Finebaum would be the same way, but he has great interviews with guests who actually DO talk about football and the games being played.

Yes, I guess you are right. Alabama loves this kind of stuff when it comes to college football commentary and they really don't care for anything else. If you can have an hour long conversation about a coach being fired and another coach being hired at a school, they will take that all day long over actually talking about the games being played that past weekend. You are right. That is what they like.

well if you ever get lowbrow enough to listen to some radio and bitch about rivals, lets hang out some time.

I can honestly say i've never thought about or discussed radio this much in my life. Not sure if that makes me an even worse fan than i was before.

Well, it was just a comment. I haven't thought about it that much either, but I was driving around today and had them on and could not believe how speculative it was. So, I made a thread.

It isn't about being lowbrow. Again, I think that it is fine that people just see it as entertainment and don't really want to talk about the actual game of football that much. But, it seems like we talk more and more about speculative stuff and less and less about substance. I get it when it is May or June and you have to fill four hours. I don't get it on the Monday after Week 8 of the season.

Say what you want to about Finebaum, but his Monday shows after a game weekend usually has discussion about the actual games played with good interviews and some substance. His callers are terrible, but he fills the time with enough substance that it is tolerable. Don't listen to him in May, though.

You seem like a good guy, piggidyphish. I'd be happy to hand out with you any time.

It is a bad radio show.
It is actually really good. I've heard local sports shows all over the south and it is one of the best. It is a local version of SVP and Russilo. They talk more substance than any other. There was a weekend of SEC blowouts where many thought Muschamp would be fired. Nothing strange about discussing that.

You're "stuck" in Alabama because you're a moron.

LSU fans seem to love to whine about things just hear their voice drone on.

Quite possibly the most insane statement I've ever read on TD, and I'm talking Peruvian tree frog lickin' whacko.

Finebaum just interviewed a gainsville journalist about firing muschamp. Perhaps this just an intriguing story and not a problem (though we have many) with alabama residents.

I have a lot of respect for Jim Dunnaway on the Roundtable. Now LT cannot read!!! He totally butchers words on the radio. Seriously though, if you are going to have a job on the radio then at least pronounce things correctly..

It is better than any of the shows in Atlanta. For some reason, large market shows think they have to have a hockey loving, obnoxious guy from Brooklyn, in order to be legitimate.

I loved Wimp and Sonny. It was like Jerry Clower meets Hee Haw.
