Doc on Jox, I ABSOLUTELY HATE THIS SEGMENT...i want game breakdowns not why i need a prostate exam.
YES! Cant stand that shite..
"Hey doc I have a huge knot the size of an apple on the side of my head, what do you think it could be?"
Its probably brain cancer fricktard go to a real doctor and not call in to a radio show.

The Roundtable is the only decent sports talk show we have. The Opening Drive is terrible and Finebaum is a joke. I will agree that the doctor segment they do is awful and I hate it.

Man, I really miss the morning show Stan White and Eli Gold had for a while. It was great.

I am not surprised that all of the Alabama people love the show.
It. Is. Horrible.
Every time I try to listen to it, they talk about nothing. I get that during the offseason. But, you are in the middle of college football season. Speculating on where Muschamp is going to end up for an hour is a complete waste of time.
It is Monday. The games were just this weekend. I don't care if they have 4 hours. I don't mind them mentioning Muschamp. But, there is SO MUCH MORE to talk about right now that is relevant.
They know things, but their choice of subject matter is atrocious. Again, I am not at all surprised that Alabama people love this stuff. It is high brow conversation for people in this state, no doubt. I am just saying, that for the college football capital of the world, Alabama could do so much better.
I had it on in the car radio when I was running around town during the lunch hour. It was the same subject beaten to death with nothing more than speculation on what would happen if Muschamp went to A&M and Art Briles came to the SEC. If you like that kind of thing, ok. But, this is the middle of the season.

4 SEC teams in the top 5 and they just spent 45 minutes talking about Muschamp being fired and possibly becoming the DC at A&M and whether or not he would be a good fit with Sumlin. Then they talked about if Art Briles would be a good fit in the SEC.
All speculation about future events and what might happen. It was like a bad offseason thread on the Rant.
Those guys read this board. It is consistently the worst radio I have heard. They need to pick it up and actually talk about what is going on.
Stuck in Alabama.
Are you kidding? I would kill for that. WNSP in Mobile morning show spends most of the 7:30am-8:00am half hour (you know, their most listened to half hour) discussing freaking baseball.

Then don't listen. Flip to Jox2 and listen to Cowherd or SVP & Russillo. Of the local shows Roundtable is far and away the best. Love the gambling segments and the fact they acknowledge there are other sports outside of college football - a mind blowing thought for most of you. Usually don't listen to the Doc on Jox but if I have a radio show in which the majority of my paycheck comes from advertising, I would allow someone to come promote their business and talk about whatever they want.

Again, perhaps you don't understand. Week 8 of the college football season just ended and it is Monday in Birmingham. 4 SEC teams are ranked in the top 5. And, they are spending an hour talking about potential coaching changes - all speculation.
If you think that is good radio, then you probably deserve what you are listening to.

I don't understand the dig here. It doesn't surprise you that people in alabama are interested in things that go on outside of alabama. This seems like the complete opposite of what we're typically accused of (in regards to football).

To be fair, for some, the season is over.

I will agree with everyone else in here and say it is by far the best show on JOX. It is the only local show you actually get NFL talk. The guy that runs the show/puts out the topics for the most part was out today so you probably just caught it on the wrong day.
If you really want to hear the worst show tune in to the opening drive from 6-10 tomorrow

I am saying that most people in Alabama do not really care about talking about football - I mean the actual games played. They want to talk about the soap opera type stuff WAY more than what actually happens on the field.
I get these kind of topics in the off season or on a Wednesday during the season. When I turn on a sports talk radio show in Alabama on a Monday after week 8 of college football season, there is so much to actually talk about that would be of interest that it is almost overwhelming. But, instead, they pick a topic that has literally no relevance at this point in time. Coaching vacancies? Really? For an hour?
Again, if you think that it is a good show, then fine. I am not surprised that SEC fans in Alabama like this kind of stuff. It is shallow and has little to do with the actual season being played but is full of speculation for the future.

They're usually pretty good, and they have an OT-style segment, too.
You want to talk about shitty radio, listen to Barker's show, with Homer Delgreco and that greaseball.

Yet you listened to it for 45 minutes....

Chortle Boy on the roundtable is hard to listen to.

Sorry you feel like you need to act superior to the people you live around. Good luck dealing with that.

Again, change the channel. I don't listen. Dan Patrick and SVP and Russillo for me.

On talk radio here there is a whole lot more of "Roll Tide!" and "War Eagle!" than there is actual talk about the teams and the games being played. And, in March, it is the same thing. It is as though the games actually interfere with people yelling at each other.
It is a bad radio show. If you like it, that is your prerogative.
