I don't think it's unreasonable.

Saban always seemed to find at least a decent game manager at QB and always had so much developed talent at key positions that he was in the hunt even without a bigtime QB. We will see that those days are over for Alabama this season.

Saban could do this because Alabama had the defense that allowed it.

This year’s Alabama defense could be one of those defenses.

His offenses were still pretty damned good without an elite QB.

This years offense will have the offensive line and weapons. It all comes down to Simpson. I can’t fault Pate for not including him but Alabama can win this year without Simpson being an elite QB. He just can’t turn the ball over and derp derp like Milroe did.

The only guy I think is too high is Manning. I think Lagway and Sellers are absolute studs and I can see the argument for them over Nuss.

I mean, I think Nuss should be higher, as he passed for 4K in his first season as a starter. Typically there is a big jump from first to second year starting. The 3 ahead of him on that list have high upsides so I get his thought process.

There's zero way Taylen Green is as high as #8.

Again, here are the advanced stats from ESPN at the end of last year (QB RTG):
1) Jaxson Dart 180
2) DJ Lagway 159
3) Sellers 152
4) Thorne 151
5) Ewers 149
6) Milroe 149
7) Beck 145
8) Nico 144
9) Pavia 144
10) Nuss 143
ESPN: QB RTG SEC ONLY

LSU fans think Nussmeier is a 1.1 NFL draft guy.

I think he could end up being that level of a QB, but he didn't play at that level consistently last year based on the advanced analytics and much like Burrow going into his second year is going to have to prove it for a lot of people outside of Baton Rouge to see him that way.

Certainly not impossible as both Daniels and Burrow made huge leaps in their second year, but if I were rating guys based on what I saw at the end of last year I don't see any "rage bait".

Just seems like our current QB crop is very underwhelming compared to years past.

Because Nuss shouldn’t be 4th. Look at the heisman odds and 2026 draft projections.

I don’t see a Bama QB. What’s going on?

When was the last time Auburn had a better QB than both Georgia and Bama?

It all depends on improvement. Nuss threw for a ton of yards, but he was also 10th passer rating out of SEC QBs and was 12th in the conference in YPA. I think it depends if he takes the insane amount of reps he got (he had 6 more passing attempts per game than the next highest, and 10+ more per game than most of the conference) and turns that experience into significant improvement.

So having him 4th is not an unfair opinion; he needs to show he can get those kinds of yards without having to throw 40+ times per game.

Heisman odds aren’t a reliable metric for ranking QB’s it’s reasonable to disagree with his rankings, but I wouldn’t call it an intentional misplacement to increase clicks.

I’m an LSU fan. But you don’t rage over projections without a previous precedent for success. Nuss was good his first year. But it’s not like he was clearly the best at the end of last year. Much like your stats suggest.
