Let us guess. The first order of business will be the new Alabama rule. When a team loses its conference championship game, it shall not be punished unless Alabama needs them to be punished to get bama in the CFP.

You may want to try reading the original post again, slowly. The only message that was sent was don’t lose to two shitty teams, so it’s right on point.

I think you can expect the ACC/B12/Notre Dame to get 3-4 slots...this year it was 4...

This shouldn't matter in the grand scheme of things because not all conferences are equal. We need to stop pretending that they are. Automatic qualifiers need to go the way of the Dodo.

I think the outcry after Florida State got left out last year had everything to do with conference champions getting an automatic berth and first round bye.

Yes, from the Alabama perspective they can only blame themselves for the losses. Individually you can't really lose that many games and say too much if you don't make it. It's exactly the same thing as losing 1 game before and "losing control of your destiny". If you didn't get in, you only had yourself to blame.

It's besides the point when you are looking at all teams and picking the best among them. At that point it's also about what other teams have done and if they have done better.

By my count, 3 SEC teams have done better than a minimum of 4 teams that made the playoffs. Yes, individually none of them have anyone to blame but themselves, but that doesn't change the fact worse teams got in over them.

The SEC and Big 10 had all the leverage at that negotiating table. This is just "Uh, that didn't go the way we wanted it so we need to change the rules!"

They did not have enough leverage without the automatic spots to conference champions outside the SEC and Big10. It’s going to change. There are about 30 programs playing one game across 3 conferences and Notre Dame. Most of the teams in those 3 conferences aren’t playing the same game. Sometime soon it’s going to be those 30 or so teams in one league with 4 divisions or conferences and the others will be playing something akin to div 2 football. It’s been this way anyway for years but the pace is picking up.

I like auto bids…makes more games around the country more meaningful.

Just don’t give byes or higher seedings to auto bids.

Do it like basketball

You guys who don’t like this are just frustrated the normal Apple cart has been over turned and that the committee has now realized that the growth for college football is everywhere except the south. The south is saturated so very little growth there.

While most on this board were frustrated that your teams season sucked, if you actually get out of your bubble you would see that college football overall was huge. Fans of schools in all regions stayed engaged much longer and many fanbases are reinvigorated with a playoff path.

And it’s gonna keep growing well beyond 12 and 16. We’ll have a 24 plus team playoff in the blink of an eye. Then all your 9-3 teams that still can’t get over the hump can be included and everyone is happy.

You want me to launch into a tirade about the poor job Sankey has done since Slive left?

I will never forgive Slive. He allowed Alabama to play LSU in a BCS Championship game after LSU had already beat them. I only mildly disliked Alabama before that. Bama can enjoy the hell they made. That game started all the talk about expanding to have a fairer system. The controversy will never end. The difference between the #16 team from 17 and 18 will spur calls to expand even further to 24 teams. The expansion calls will continue after that.

Should be no guaranteed slots. The ACC didn't deserve to have any team make it.

Things will change when sec goes to a nine game conference schedule. That’s what is holding it up. Any negotiations including the big ten starts with that

The have to fix the seeding issue.

I like that conference champions are the only ones that get byes. Now, what needs to change is the fact that seeds #5-8 get a home game, but #1-4 don't. That's bad.

1. Sankey is a stupid frickin idiot.

2. These dumbasses sign a deal for a system. Before the first year is completed they’re already bitching and pushing for change. The changes could have stopped with the BCS and we would still be in a good place today.

3. frick Sankey. frick the conference commissioners. frick the CFP brass. They all clearly lack foresight.
