Auburn and Florida have both won titles more recently than Texas or OU lol

Seem to recall the same stuff being said about Missouri. They did ok right off the bat. I realize it was the east, but still.

Let me give you a heads up. Instead of the usual mid-tier suspects, you will be entering enemy territory of teams that have won numerous national championships in your lifetime and they won't be named BAMA.
Forget TAMU, that'll be the biggest cultural shock for longhorn nation and your already very small trophy case.

Didn’t A&M go 6-6 in the big 12 in 2011 and immediately dominate the very first year in the sec? Didn’t Missouri leave the big 12 with a losing record and win the East 2 of their first 3 seasons. If those joke programs could do it, it’s certainly not out of the realm of possibility for Texas or Oklahoma to achieve some sort of success in football

I will keep that in mind.

the Bama plus 13 conference
Four SEC schools have won NCs, three of them multiple NCs, since TX has even played for one. Longhorns are a third or even fourth tier program with delusions of grandeur.

I could see OU doing decent though obliviously they won’t be winning the conference every year like the have in the past. Texas will become the Tennessee of the west for a few extra dollars.
Why do you think this will blow up on Texas?
If you don't think the powers that be at Texas are sick of watching BAMA and LSU walk into the state and steal their recruits, then you don't know Texas, the school or the state, historically. This move is about rebuilding the wall around Texas that A&M tore down when they joined the SEC and allowed other conferences to take advantage in recruiting the state...
If Texas joins the SEC, the only thing to hold them back is who they hire as a coach...They make the right coaching hire, and they are instantly a powerhouse again. East Texas is loaded for recruiting and a big chunk of those kids born there will want to play for the flagship...

Oh, yeah. What happened at the end of that year?
Does anyone remember?

If you take Alabama and Auburn out of the West the West is not so tough.

its all about timing. A&M walked in with a new coach very experienced team and a eventual heisman winner. Missouri sucked first year then won the east twice.
If Texas and OU come in with an experienced team more importantly O-line/D-line then yes they will find success. Last I checked Texas is no bueno in the trenches and hasn't been for some time. After A&M graduated their upper classmen we felt the immediate recruiting curve.
A&M is positioned to take on Texas and OU year over year now. Definitely were not in the Big 12.
