Again, aggy says Chavis doesn't need TOP. Which is it? Does he need it as you say or is aggy right?

I'm not Aggy, so I can't speak for them, but you act as if TOP is a constant "thing". It isn't. He may not need to win TOP, but to be utterly dominated on TOP like 23 minutes to 37 minutes is hard for ANY defense to overcome.

I'd take my chances with a talented Chavis D that lost TOP every game like 32 - 28 minutes.

Not sure Chief will have the D up to speed in one year. But we'll see.

Did the reporter ask him about only getting 12 sacks against FBS teams last year?

Meh. Second most QB hurries in SEC play. The pressure he provided on the pass rush was undeniably better than anything LSU had last year, or will have for a while.

That is a great example. Many many LSU fans on here never completely took their medicine for that Arky loss. By all rights they should have had a whole offseason of making them eat shite and instead LSU fans have sidestepped many of the Arky fans like the Rant is a fricking game of Dance Dance Revolution or something.

That is why I came to the realization in this thread that all these daily Chavis threads are for naught. We win as I expect and LSU fans will avoid facing the fact that they were wrong. We lose and Aggies will talk about how Chavis needs two years to implement his defense. It has all been forum masterbation.

I guess what really makes me mad about it is all of us KNOW LSU fans can outmelt anyone. I mean, many many LSU fans are bitches. Yet the reaction to a dozen bumped threads by Aggies will be an army of RAs and not tasty melts.

LSU is like the hottest girl at your high school, that then goes to college and puts on a little weight but is still VERY cute. You never had a chance in high school despite your fantasies, but you hit it off with her at a reunion and you take her back to your place. There you are with what was once the goddess of your high school and you can't WAIT to do all the shite you fantasized in high school- BJs, anal sex, cowboy style, fricking her in the shower, fricking her in the kitchen, etc. But then when you actually get her home she informs you she only likes missionary style in a bed, which you begrudgingly accept, only to find she COMPLETELY slipped out when she said she "had to go to the bathroom" because telling her just 1% of your fantasies about her creeped her the frick out. So you angrily beat yourself off mentally imaginging you hatefcking her just to put it in your past.

That will be me the day after we beat LSU.

Will Chavis's A&M D be elite? I don't know. The most bold prediction I will make is that Steele's defense will be good but not elite. What is sad is that isn't a very bold prediction given Steele's history.

Most of these threads talking about Chavis and Steele make me laugh. It is easy to look at a result and not look at the bigger picture. Lots say Steele sucks because his Clemson team gave up 70 to West Virginia or because of his seemingly mediocre defenses. Without looking deeper into things like quality of player or common opponents, it would appear Chavis is light years ahead of Steele. That may or may not be the case though.

The one common opponent I found for the 2 was that both played West Virginia in the 2011 season. A year when LSU had one of its best defenses ever. Yes, this is the same year that Clemson got 70 hung on them. Lets look at the stats though.

Against LSU
WV had 28 First Downs
WV had 533 Total Yards
WV had 463 Passing Yards
WV scored 21 Points
WV was -4 Turnovers

Against Clemson
WV had 31 First Downs
WV had 595 Total Yards
WV had 407 Passing Yards
WV scored 70 points
WV was +3 Turnovers

The main difference is Turnovers. The stats given up to WV are not that different between 2011 LSU and 2011 Clemson with the exception of points and turnovers. I would argue that the majority of the 49 point differential was purely due to turnovers and a deflated Clemson team due to said turnovers.

I would also argue that the LSU defense was a crapload more talented than the Clemson defense in 2011.

I could have it all wrong, but I believe Steele will work out better than a lot of people think.

I also believe Chavis will improve A&M on the defensive side. I just don't think he is the savior many at A&M believe him to be.

All that said .. Have a Great Day! We will all find out in a little over 3 weeks.

Has nothing to do with Clemson. That was just a cherry on top. Has everything to do with his full body of work and steady decline.

Da frick these dudes in here saying they have signed more 5 stars than us on Defense in 2012 2013 2014

They think signing 5 star WRs and QBs play D in college station.

They have the worst LB core in the league......bottom 3 defensive backs and 1 DT they can laude right now in Daylon Mack who is a freshman.

Alonzo Williams is a punching bag for guards..........

But man they have some great DEs..........

Their talent sucks so bad, Chavis had to call out offensive tryouts and took a RB and converted him to CB..........but yeah their DE's are badass.

No one knows what he's going to do either way. He's traditionally coached some of the most talented defenses in the SEC with top notch head coaches and defensive assistants across from pro style offenses that help him out a pretty good bit.

A&M is literally the polar opposite of that. They have weak DB and DL coaches, they have some of the worst linebackers and DB's in the SEC, they have a head coach who hasn't ever been highly successful, and they have an air raid HUNH style gimmicky high school offense with weak TOP, and he traditionally hasn't benefited very much from having top notch DE's or linemen in general because he uses them for containment.

I doubt that any A&M fans are mature enough to see those things and accept them but this season is a complete crapshoot for Chavis if we're being honest. He went from looking like a superstar for 15 years as the CEO of a company with the best CFO, COO, CMO, etc. with all Ivy League grad employees, to being the CEO of a company that has sub par employees and weak executives. Anyone can look good when they're surrounded by the best but it'll be interesting to see if he can do it by himself this season

It's also a double standard that the Aggies get to use the narrative that Steele is a worthless coach because of 70 points against Clemson.........

Yet we can't make fun of their talent while giving up 450 yards a game for 2 fricking seasons and ranking in the bottom 15 in all of D1 football.........

If one man can make that much of a diffence on a fooball team over the course of their careers, they'd be the boss and not a coordinator.

Garrett will thrive individually in Chavis' system, but I still expect teams like Bama, LSU and Arkansas to just power run over him.

Okay what do you want him to say? " We suck and I'm not a miracle worker" I don't believe in any hype in August. Right now in BR our QBs are "Light years ahead of where they were last year" according to Miles. I'll wait until after the MSU game to see.
