Nice.

For those who don’t have any idea why that’s kinda fricked up - Durkin was the HC at Maryland who had a player die of a heatstroke during conditioning drills.

I can’t imagine he meant it that way, but talk about sticking your foot in your mouth.

Wow more of Jimbo being a moron. Strength trainer was running the conditioning when the Maryland player died. Not sure if Durkin will ever be able to get around that red flag

I think he did. Why else would he crack jokes about a "conditioning test"? It's not really an ironic sort of funny or even remotely related to Durkin's job performance

Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher cracked a joke when discussing first-year defensive coordinator DJ Durkin. Asked how Durkin was fitting in with the team, Fisher started talking about his physical attributes as if he were a player.

"He's got in good shape in the offseason," a smiling Fisher said. "He's ran well, he's worked out well. I think he passed conditioning tests and he's done pretty good."

The response elicited laughter from the reporters in attendance, one of whom even played along by asking what Durkin's 40-yard dash time was. But once the moment had passed, Fisher finally dove in to deliver a serious answer on his new DC.

"He's been doing a great job with our guys," Fisher said. "Leading them and putting them on the same page. I love the schemes that he's doing. A lot of the same stuff and then there's added things that he does a little differently. Sometimes, there's things you may not even notice."

On3 was so confident with that story they deleted it immediately.

If your school or coaching staff hasn't killed anyone in the name of football, does it really mean more?

TAMU probably threatened their media credentials.

What a boneheaded comment from Jimbo.

ETA: Story with quotes is still available.

Reading the whole quote, he obviously didn’t mean it to be any reference to the past. But you can’t say that about durkin.

That’d be similar to our AD making some crack about allowing student workers on a scissor lift.

Of course not. He’s just an arse clown that lacks any sense of self/situational awareness.

granted in addition to being clueless, he’s also shown a propensity for covering up for rapists and, in the case of durkin, murderers. i assume a&m fans already knew this though since they hired him.
