Did you know we hired Durkin knowing he’s a high risk hire for any school wanting him as HC? and it’s a lower risk but lateral move for him to move somewhere else as a DC, this gives the defense continuity with a coach for a few years and if he underperforms, we can let him go

Loved Durkin when he was our DC. Great recruiter too.

He's going to get roasted alive for this.

Did he say it or not?
While I am not a fan of the hire at all he clearly didn't mean it the way it's being portrayed in the tweet in your OP.

Reading the whole quote, he obviously didn’t mean it to be any reference to the past.
Of course not. He’s just an arse clown that lacks any sense of self/situational awareness.
Similar to Dan Mullen?

A&M is going to take a step back with Durkin this year.

What made him leave the swamp? I know he became a HC but he could've come back to the swamp as a DC.

But the new coaching staff at LSU will not take a step back in the tougher SEC west?

When did Bama and Tuscaloosa get so soft? Embarrassing.

I’m not offended by the quote, just pointing out how bizarre Jimbo’s lack of self awareness is. It’s amazing, really.

He left Florida for Michigan right? He had Top 10 defenses at Michigan and Florida? Then Maryland HC, then fired, then Ole Miss DC I think, I saw his interview today for the Ags, you can tell he’s new bc he was kinda quiet

The faux outrage here is just stupid. The joke about Durkin being in shape was harmless and obviously had nothing to do with the young man’s death.

So quit using a young man’s death as gotcha card in a dumbass game of faux outrage.

Jimbo acted like an idiot in that impromptu presser after the Saban’s comments…but this can’t be something he meant in reference to a tragic incident. Just an answer that for some reason he thought was funny at the moment…. Maybe they had just talked about players conditioning or something like that.

It’s not a gotcha card. It’s Jimbo having an absolutely cringeworthy level of lack of self awareness, as he’s proven over and over again.

The only thing cringeworthy is people who make this into something ugly to justify their choice of sports villain.
