Pretty simple for me, A&M has never finished higher than 3rd in the SEC, they have never been to Atlanta. So until they do, they are a middle tier team that’s all talk.

You are obviously counting only SEC games because Clemson beat aTm twice under Jumbo

We can look back at Jimbo's loses and pick maybe a few games we should have won.

2018 (first year):
#2 Clemson - 28-26 (should have won that game)(they won the NC that year)
#1 Alabama - What can I say? Two would-be NC opponents in the first 4 games.
Miss State - 28-13 - They had a monster defense and we made lots of mistakes.
Auburn - 28-24 (should have won that game too, but remember, Auburn beat #6 Washington, was a couple of dumb frick plays from beating #12 LSU)

2019:
@#1 Clemson - future NC opponent
#8 Auburn - Got Bo Nix'd
#1 Alabama - (Alabama)
@#4 Georgia - should have won that game
@#1 LSU - eventually beat the frick out of Clemson (second year in a row we played the two NC opponents in the same year)

2020:
#1 Alabama - (the NC winner)

So, of the 4 games we should have won, 2 were in the top 5.

That's not a legitimate victory. That was a felony and felonies don't count.

You’re using a close loss against Iowa State and TCU to impress us?

No I saying Texas was actually pretty good last year, and with a little better coaching.. could have been 9-1 or 10-0 pretty easily. You can of course make the argument the other way as well..

Herman’s biggest issue was that he played up or down to his opponent.

18 losses 108 point total difference
That is only 6 points a game..
I believe a good coaching staff can be worth that much..

2017 - 4 losses by 15 points
2018 - 3 losses by 9 points
2019 - 3 losses by 16 points
2020 - 3 losses by 13 points

13 of Herman’s 18 losses were by 7 points or less..
(average of those 13 losses was 4 points)

The other 5 losses were in the 8-17 pt range..

While I do agree with your point, it would help if you explained why you think that i’m a dumbass.

My opinion; A&M has a pretty good team, but they just aren’t all that. They beat a bunch of crappy teams and are just decent against the good ones. I’m not saying they are shifty, but it is one reason why I think Texas & Oklahoma will be better than anticipated in the SEC.

Oklahoma > A&M right now

I think OU is #2 or #3 in a battle with Georgia.

Idk where Texas belongs to be honest.. we could approach the top 4 or we could end up in the bottom 4. Until we play some games with this new staff, hard to say.

This is pretty common with Jimbo Fisher teams.

They beat most of who they are supposed to beat and do okay versus teams with similar talent.

You will rarely see Fisher outscheme an opponent and spring an upset.

Shoot, look at his 2013 year, who did he beat that was more talented than Florida State?

You’re welcome to your opinion.
Many national authorities disagree with you.
Perhaps read a tad about the Texas A&M team?

Who has said otherwise?

I realize that most media folks have A&M ranked highly.. but i’m asking why? Look at the original post.. then compare that resume to the following teams:

1) Alabama
2) Clemson
3) Georgia
4) Ohio State
5) Oklahoma

Texas A&M finished #4 last year.. and I’m asking why? Their resume does not say #4 to me. I realize you can only beat the teams on your schedule.. but how do you look at that resume and say.. you know what.. they look like the 4th best team in the country.

I’m not trolling.. I’m genuinely curious because I only watched a couple of A&M games last year. I know they have a good team.. but #4 implies a great team.

No emotion involved there..

Does anyone besides Texas A&M think they were the 4th best team last year?

Which is why Texas A&M isn’t ranked ahead of any of these teams in most polls that have been released.

Not a sexy team. Running and a stout defense (most of the time). QB was moodier than a sorority girl in Austin.

Not flashy, and maybe not elite, but we wore teams down.

Agreed.. it was an old school smash mouth football.. Hard to watch as an impartial fan, but effective nonetheless.

Fisher definitely beats the teams that he is supposed to beat.. I wish that I could have said the same for Herman. Lets take a look at the 2021 schedule.

Creampuffs 3-0
Kent State, New Mexico, Prairie View A&M

Losing Record 2-1 to 3-0
Arkansas, South Carolina, Colorado

Winning Record 0-3 to 2-1
Alabama, Ole Miss, LSU

Not Sure Yet 2-1 to 3-0
Auburn, Mississippi State, Missouri

So the floor is 7-5, but that is the wheels completely fall off nuclear option. The real floor is likely 8-4 or 9-3.

Lets say A&M goes 10-2 with a loss to Alabama and Ole Miss or LSU.

How good are they? It is hard to say if they go 1-2 against teams with winning records.. but they would prob make a 12 team playoff..

This is part of the genius that is the SEC schedule.. but it is also one reason why others complain so loudly..

Either way, the schedule is about to get a lot harder for all of us. I look forward to it.. even though we will have a lot of bumps and bruises along the way..

One thing I've learned since leaving the DogShit 12 and joining the SEC is that a 4-8 Ole Miss team is better than a 9-3 Kansas State or 8-4 TCU.

A winning record in the DogShit12 doesn't take much. You got teams with losing records in the SEC that have as many 4 and 5 stars as the DogShit 12 champions. It's a beast of a schedule with no freebies like that dumpster fire conference you have been playing in.

Then, who was #4?

We beat the frick out of Mac Brown's team in the bowl. What more can we prove. Who was #4 if not A&M?

The schedule will absolutely get harder for you. It remains to be seen if it will be harder for the rest of us. You will make some teams schedules easier. Swapping Bama, Georgia, Auburn, LSU, Florida, A&M for a match up with you makes the schedule easier, not harder.

If we’re discussing hypotheticals and last season I’ll add this.

OU beat a Florida team whose team was not at full strength. They actually competed with Bama in the championship game.

Wow imagine dick riding a rival for moral victories. I guess you’ll grasp at anything when you lose to the Kansas, Iowa States of the world.

A&M had the top defense in the SEC, and top ten nationally last season. I have no doubt in my mind A&M would run the ball down Texas/OU throats and make you quit.
