Jimbo Fisher is 26-10 at Texas A&M

11-0 Vs Teams with a Losing Record
(combined record 29-83 not including A&M games)

6-0 Vs UAB, UTSA, ULM, Texas State, Northwestern State & Lamar

3-0 Vs Favorable Bowl Opponents not named Texas and missing numerous players that opted out

6-10 Vs Teams with a Winning Record

2018 W over 7-5 South Carolina by 3 pts
(South Carolina lost their bowl game 28-0)

2018 W over 10-2 LSU in 7 OT
(LSU lost this game more than A&M won it.)

2018 W over 10-2 Kentucky in OT
(Kentucky also lost to 4-7 Tennessee by 17 points)

2020 W over 6-4 Auburn
(Auburn also lost to 1-8 South Carolina)

2020 W over 5-4 LSU
(LSU also lost to 2-7 Miss State)

2020 W over 8-3 Florida by 3 points
(Florida also lost by 35 points to Oklahoma)

Discuss.

To be fair, 9-10 of those 16 teams with a winning record were AP #1 teams at the time, so, there's that.

Here's what Mike Gundy said about our 2019 squad and the teams we played with a winning record:

A man. 40.

“They have lost to No. 1; they have lost to No. 1; they have lost to No. 1; they lost to No. 4; and they lost to No. 12. That’s their five losses. They are definitely a top 20 team.”

Skippy with UT's record you really don't need to throw shade at anybody.

I honestly don't think the horns are capable of evaluating an SEC schedule after so many years in the shite pile of mid-major programs that are the Big 12. And they couldn't even finish in the top half of that shite show.

You are, A&M plays in a conference that actually plays the game of tackle football, Unlike the pillow biters in the Big12.

So what is your excuse for the abysmal record you have had in that same period of time in the Big12? Which by the way everyone understands that is equivalent to the 2 A division in Texas high school football.

Yet they didn’t have a W over one team with a winning record all year until the bowl game, where they won by 3 pts.

I get your point.. the schedule was brutal.

If Texas plays Alabama every game and goes 0-12, does that make them good?

Not enough data to make the call in that scenario.

If t.u. loses to TCU 7 out 9 times, that doesn't necessarily make them a bad team.....

Sorry. I couldn't finish that sentence.

Oh, by the way...

That was the Big 12's #4 team vs. SEC #7.

EDIT:

...and this proves you didn't bother to read what Gundy said about not having "a W over one team with a winning record all year."

Most of those teams we beat with losing records had to play many of the same top 10 teams we played.

Well it isn’t apples to apples as the coach has changed, and hopefully that makes a difference. I just posted on the other thread about Sark some of the problems we have had.

Strong had horrible defenses at Texas. Like all time worst horrible. Perplexing for a guy known for good defense. He hired a G5 quality staff at Texas. They were pretty good recruiters though.

Herman was a good offensive coach. The problem was again Defense. He also hired a G5 quality staff. Say what you want about the Big 12 teams, but they have been really good on offense.

Briles
Riley
Kingsbury
Gundy
Holgorson
among others..

When he was forced to fire his DC and hire Ash last year, the difference was noticeable. If not for a few boneheaded plays, and some better in game coaching, Texas likely goes 9-1 or 10-0 last year.

Texas went 7-3 in 2020
L to TCU by 2 points
(Texas was inside the TCU 5 with 1 min to go and fumbled)

L to OU in 3OT
(Texas had a lot of chances to win this game.. but blew it - This OU team was young when we played them, but they found something this game. They beat Florida by 35 in the bowl game)

L to ISU 23-20
(Herman made bad decisions all game long here. Sam had a bad game imo but Texas was ahead 20-10 late in the 3rd quarter and again blew it.)

3 losses within 5 points at the end of regulation.

Better coaching wins those games. TBD if that guy is Sark or not..

You’re using a close loss against Iowa State and TCU to impress us?

TCU has had 3 ten win seasons in the Big 12 since you left.. and 12 ten win seasons since 2000.. A&M had 1 ten win season in the Big 12.. and 1 since 2000.

TCU in the Big 12 > A&M in the Big 12

Y’all have not played them since 2001, so I don’t care how many wins y’all have in a row over them. They have had some pretty good football teams over the last 20 years.

Either way, TCU has owned us lately.. mostly because we have sucked.. but also because they have been pretty good.
