No shite, you moron. It isn't 1937 anymore. It's fairly easy and comfortable to travel from Athens to Jacksonville now. We have these things called planes that make it faster to travel longer distances.

Also, I'd bet the plane flight is every bit as comfortable as Florida's bus ride. Anyone using travel as their reasoning to move the game is bitching just to bitch.

You want the game to lose everything that makes it special? Play it in Athens or Gainesville and watch how fast it gets the ESPN2 noon kickoff treatment.

At that point, it is no longer the WLOCP and simply becomes just another annual division game like Tennessee or South Carolina.

yeah, instead of complaining about how it "hurts" recruiting because of he can't sell the Athens experience, he could sell the tradition of playing in an NFL stadium. and opportunity that not all college players get to experience.

Or just put on tape of the 2012 game and tell recruits they won't see an atmosphere like that in Athens or Gainesville. Ever.

Nice language.

Tell me ANYTHING that makes this game more important to remain in Jax rather than H/H either at the schools or Atl./Jax.
The ONLY thing people talk about is being away from school & partying at the beach.

Those affect the game HOW?

So, it's okay to trash people who want it moved?

Sounds a lot like America on several topics lately.

It's not about the game on the field. It's about the fans and tradition that college football has been shitting on for the last 20 years. There is nothing wrong with keeping it in Jacksonville, and if we happen to lose a recruit because of it, that's fine with me. It loses all of its luster when we're playing an unranked Florida team at noon on ESPN2 or ESPNU in Gainesville or Athens.

And yes, whether you like it or not, the carnival party atmosphere (that Athens, Gainesville, or Atlanta would NEVER allow, BTW) is a huge part of this event.

I've always heard that the main reason the game is in Jax from a Georgia perspective is that the most loyal (and some say largest) sector of the Dawg fanbase is in South Georgia, and this game is for them. Jax is closer for a lot of them, especially in southeast Georgia, than Athens is. Also, in late October, more times than not, the weather is still fine for hitting the beaches on the Golden Iles and NE Fla. I've heard that people that own houses and condos on St. Simons and Sea Islands can pay for about 9 mortgage payments during Georgia-Florida week alone. The Cocktail Party ain't going no where.

This is true, also.

You said UGA was consensus #1 in 1942, then you provided a link that shows Ohio State was the #1 team in that year as judged by both the leading polls, AP and Coaches poll.

Move it then. I am tired of hearing Georgia bitch about it.

Yes, and we're tired of beating you guys to a pulp every year.

We need to schedule some REAL competition, instead.

Yes I did, but unlike you, I consider every Georgia football weekend as something not entirely about football. The cocktail party just adds a needed yearly exotic venue for a college football weekend that is strictly for Dawgs and Gators, and that makes it special. When it becomes strictly about the game that is when I'll cease to be a fan.

The people who want this game moved don't realize what it'll do to the rivalry. I don't think they realize how little people will care about a nooner on ESPN2 in Athens or Gainesville.

In other words, if you think you'll get the same intensity for this game from fans and players every year if you move it to home and home, you are wrong and either don't know it or don't care.

I didn't say it had to be your #1 rival. But to be FAIR each SEC team should play 1 neutral site game somewhere, sometime during the season.
