Idk, he's probably still better off staying in the draft. I think he'll still go in the first 3 rounds. Hell, Jaylon Smith was drafted 34 overall with a much more severe injury.

So his karma kickback was to the knee evidently. Inside out. Ouch, that had to hurt.

As I referenced in a post earlier, it was 4 years ago. He got a second chance and made the most of it. Kareem Hunt just got signed, Jeffery's incident pales in comparison to many of others in the league. I can assure you that most GMs DGAF about what happened 4 years ago if his record has been clean since.

It’s 2019, he’ll be a first round pick.

Jaylon Smoth’s injury was catastrophic.

Did he get kicked off any team? Because it seems like nothing happened and he’s styill on his first chance.

He wasn't on any team. After he cleared his legal hurdles he was allowed on the team and was a model student athlete, from all accounts

If he goes in the first round, it'll be to a good team that is already loaded on the DL. I can see the Eagles taking him. For example, he wouldn't have fallen past the Falcons pick (14) but the Falcons need DL help now so he's probably off of their first round board.

Still won’t fall past pick 20.

He is too talented and acl tears are a joke now.

If it was the catastrophic injury Jaylon Smith had, or an Achilles tear, totally different story.

But just an acl tear? That is nothing but time taken away in today’s world of medicine and recovery.

What second chance? He was suspended one game against South Alabama, plead no contest, fined like $300, and had the charge expunged. He got off pretty damn easy IMO. With that said, I would never wish for or be happy to see someone hurt, but there's no need to white knight for the guy.

I'm not white knighting for him. I'm just telling you like it is. He fricked up, and luckily got a chance at an SEC school and then proceeded to make the most of it over the course of 4 years. I'm sorry that the facts have your disgruntled.

I never said nor acted like I was disgruntled, but I just don't see how what happened would qualify as a "second chance." When I think of a second chance, I think of someone who had something taken away from him, then someone else took a chance on him down the road. Not someone who did something bad and was punished commensurate with getting caught with weed or public intox. And I have never disputed that he walked a straight line while at State.

Sucks for Simmons. He was a beast on the field, heck of a player.

The other character issues if there are any I'll leave to the NFL to weed out.

A lot of the top schools stopped recruiting him when it happened. He very luckily was given the opportunity to play at State. I would consider that a second chance. To each their own.

Where were all these bama fans when Courtney Upshaw was beating the fine women of T-Town?

He was arrested in March of 2016. He had already signed his LOI with State when it happened. Other schools had stopped recruiting Simmons a long time before that even happened. He was arrested on March 28, 2016, and the event happened March 24, 2016, both well over a month after he signed his LOI. Maybe a better way of putting it would be State didn't pull his scholarship and only punished him with a one game suspension against South Alabama.

Maybe I just personally think that those who hit women deserve worse of a punishment than he received, most did when it happened, even some State fans. I'm glad he has not repeated that same behavior since fwiw.

Thank you for joggin my memory. I remember a lot of fans on here ridiculing State for keeping him on. Turned out to be a good decision given how Simmons responded. Who knows, if we had cut him he might likely be doing the same harm to others.

I have zero problems with Simmons bashing. What he did was reprehensible.

But fans shouldn't act like they've never cheered for players who have done just as much. No one in this thread has insinuated such, but it's been brought up before
