Jeff Driskel: I could’ve thrown for 4,000 yards at Florida this past season

“When people think about me in my Florida days, they want to think about the bad games,” Driskel told reporters on Thursday afternoon. “That was really highlighted. And there were some games where I didn’t play well.”

When he skipped town to Ruston, La., he left behind a packed depth chart in Gainesville.

In his words, he took more calculated risks and didn’t force footballs while putting together a memorable senior season.

“I grew as a quarterback,” he said. “That’s what happens when you get more playing time.”

The Oviedo, Fla., native didn’t admit to thinking “What if?” but he did contend that he could’ve put up that Louisiana Tech yardage total — 4,000-plus — at Florida in 2015.

“I believe that I could’ve,” he said. “I don’t think it was a matter of competition. I think it was a matter of me playing well and throwing it to the right guy with certain looks.”

It was fun watching him play the last time Mizzou was in the swamp.

I mean, he would have done better, and if he'd come in with basically any other Florida coach he might have had a great career.

That Muschamp has a head coaching job after being a loser as a HC and a loser in his last two seasons as a DC is amazing.

Guy could have succeeded with the right coach. Unfortunately, Muschamp got ahold of him and his career went to shite.

Hey, Driskel didnt play on special teams and we turned that Murphy guy loose....opening kickoff returned for TD, punt return for TD, fumble ran back for TD...Mizzou didnt even crack 200 yds of total offense? asswipe. Know much about football? You beat us but you beat our not so special teams....which up to that game had played well.

It was more of a combination of good special teams play AND our defensive line owning y'all upfront giving Driskel the longest night of his life.

If it makes you feel any better, I felt really really sorry for the guy after we won the game.

I doubt it. He always had that deer in the headlights look and Florida's OL sucked this year.

The guy's being discussed as a 2nd round pick and just ran a 4.56 at the combine.

He's going to be drafted well ahead of Dak, Allen, and Coker.

frick Muschamp.
