So he's basically a Tim Tebow. That's perfectly fine if it works in the college game. He definitely is a great college player no matter what

What? So many of you are creatures of the moment. Tebow is one of the greatest college football players of all time. Milroe isn't anywhere near that!

he’s never done anything to where I’m like “whoa, now that’s NFL caliber.” I think he does fit the system and will be a menace to deal with this season for sure.

I think this is a fair assessment. At the very least I think Milroe gives opposing defenses fits, because he's just good enough at passing where you can't load the box, but he can also burn you with 4.3 speed.

DeBoer has 1 major thing to work on with Milrore. Milroe is a good kid and will work hard.

If they can get him to release the ball quick. Can get him to read 1/2 the field and throw or run, he can be a very good QB "in college"

If not he should get replaced as the year goes on.

We'll see.

Also our RB's -very good- are gonna be special behind one of the best O'lines we've had in years.

RBs were just as good last season but you couldn't tell b/c Milroe monopolizes the offense due to him not being a real QB who can distribute the ball and make a defense respect his passing ability which would open up the running game. I actually think the offense will be better but it will be a run oriented offense. We will need a ball control offense b/c I don't think the defense will be great. Rather I think the defense will be good.

Milroe’s 3.45-second average time to throw was the slowest time to throw in the FBS.

It was 2.45 before Auburn decided not to rush anyone on 4th and 31.

Him not even looking at his checkdowns last year was frustrating, in what usually would have resulted in a first down at the very least. With RB's as good as 'Bama's will be this year, it will be a crime if he just doesn't see them in checkdown situations.

It was a crime with him lacking confidence enough to use his speed to scramble for 1st down yardage on most plays.

He's an athlete. Run the damn ball when it's there. He was cemented in trying to prove he was a pocket passer and that was a 50-50 situation for a variety of reasons

The play before 4th & 31 where he ran past the LOS, then tried to run back behind it and threw a near INT, he could've run for at least 15-20 yards untouched.

Saban lost his mind on the sideline, and you can lipread him yelling to Milroe "GOD DAMMMIT!! GOOOO!!!!"

It doesn't matter at this point. Going into 19, Burrow was assumed late round, and Tua #1.
Certainly no one had Daniels at 2, going into last season.

First year starter, wins the SEC, gets us into overtime against Michigan, and all under a defensive minded head coach and Tommy Rees and you guys are bitching about him before he takes his first snap this year? You don't think an offensive staff like we have now might make him even better? Seriously, why post this on Tigerdroppings? For attention? If he's so bad and our coaches are too stupid to play someone better, which is what you all apparently think, why not just pull for another team? And yeah, I know, "some NFL guy said it, not me".

But you need a decent passing game to make the running game work well. We were #70 in the nation last yr passing offense.

Kalen DeBoer will earn a ton of credibility this season if he can just make Milroe get the ball out of his hands on time and not constantly putting his OL in a bind when they didn't have a protection setup to give him a long time in the pocket.

Of course, if Milroe could just develop some short timing throws with accuracy then he'd be a credible Heisman candidate when paired with his existing deep throw accuracy and ability to run.

Agree with about all that unfortunately. It was just flat out hard to watch last season at QB.
As long as I have been watching Bama football there have been 3 great Bama QBs. Richard Todd, AJ McCarron and Mac Jones. There have been others with more “talent” than those 3 but they didn’t play the position as well. I don’t care how big you are, how strong your arm is or how fast you can run. If you can’t read a defense, get the team out of a bad play, not turn the ball over or complete intermediate throws with consistency
Then you can’t win. I hope I am wrong and he has done a 180 this season.

ability to run.

Another knock on him last year was he had no clue when to do this. When it was a designed run he would kill opposing defenses more often than not, but if it was left up to him to decide when a play broke down, he usually didn't pull the trigger until it was too late. He's a very dangerous but not instinctive runner.

Not being able to anticipate at all, and the OC having to dumb down the offense late in the season so he only had to read half the field.

So, the coach went half of the season not knowing how to scheme around his personnel? That's a coaching problem, not a personnel problem.

Milroe’s 261 pass attempts are the third-fewest in the Nick Saban era, but he’s made them count. Milroe’s 177.48 pass efficiency rating is fourth-best nationally and the best of any quarterback in the College Football Playoff.

Exactly. He's a giant ball of muscle and indecision.
I can't count how many times he would take off running and run right into the back of his own blocker. It's like he runs blindfolded and just smashes into things.
Then when he's about to make contact, he doesn't drive with his feet - he jumps into the tackler and gets knocked backwards.

It's the weirdest thing to watch...

People would have said the same thing about Jayden Daniels before last year and he won the Heisman and got drafted first.

Most of the “scouts” and media members are full of shite looking to get clicks. I think Milroe will be damn good over the next couple years.

I havent watched him throw enough to determine if he’s hesitant or slow,

He was too busy running against LSU.

But Daniels was very hesitant in 22 and it threw all the timing off. in 23 he just let it rip and the rest is history.
