They need to close the portal up and teach kids a little about responsibility.

Not being a jackass..... But who has the authority to close the portal up?

Who's in charge, who's managing college sports?

I hate everything about this annual free agency. As a fan, how can you get attached to players if they move every year.

Annual?

Listening to ranters talking about the portal is kinda like realizing you're in Pickett's infantry at Gettysburg and you just heard Lee scream CHARGE!!!.

This probably isn't going to end well for anyone.

The schools do, if they would just grow some fricking balls for once. All these protests and all the other shite going on around colleges is just a symptom of a system with no backbone.

They are all scared to fricking death of some bad PR that's going to get them fired. So they just allow everyone who claims victim status to run over them.

"You're making me keep my commitment for a year, I'm a victim, you are forcing me!" bullshite. You are not a victim, you made a commitment.

Nobody can force them to keep their commitment, but schools can damn well not accept a kid who has failed to keep theirs. So the NCAA just makes the rule "Schools will not admit a scholarship student who transfers out before 1 year for a time period after being admitted into another school"

I'm not a lawyer, I'm sure they can word it better. But basically, if you commit to a school for the year, you are there for the year. You can drop out, but another school can't admit you until it's been 1 year since the day you were admitted into the other school(maybe a grace period of a few weeks or a month for different admission dates).

But will schools actually grow a backbone and do something? Doesn't seem very likely to me. So the sport will probably get sucked dry by the parasite mentality leaving only the hollow carcass of what it once was.

Basically, you regulate the schools, not the players and tell congress to go frick itself. Don't say the player is ineligible, tell the schools they can't admit someone.

Are you kidding?

The elites who stand like tyrants over the woke universities are the same people commanding underlings to orchestrate the protests.

You aren't wrong, but there is a method to their control and how they sacrifice their own.

What's the point of having a "signing" day if they can just enter the portal the same year?

We should change the name to "first semi-official commitment day".

When will fans realize they support a team of 1099 contractors for hire?

Can't blame a kid for wanting to get out of that toxic situation under Brian Kelly, dude will be gone in 1-2 years.

Toxic? CBK has two 10-win seasons already and currently has the No. 1 recruiting class for 2025. You need to find a new drug dealer because those cow patties you been smoking is frying your brain cells!

You will see that the coaches and teams that are most honest with recruits will retain their players best. They might also get those kids after they enter the portal too.

I was thinking more along the lines of "flavor of the month"

They will eventually have to limit what players can make and alot of rules to transferring. You can't have kids going to 5 schools and wasting the teams time recruiting them and coaching them up.

If they don't then it will just turn into a grab the best players for a year and have to repeat the next. The best players will run for more money and the ones that don't play will just transfer around til they run out of eligibility and maybe play a year. No one will be able to get too attached and teams will pop up for one year and disappear (top schools will get the most talent and stay up but have ups and downs at different positions, year by year).

The coaches who had five NFL draft picks in one season, and couldn’t crack the top 30 in defense?

Those clowns?

I will say it has been keeping the "News" section of the Rant/TigerDroppings very busy.

Used to see an article a week, at most, it seemed like; now it feels like there's 2-3 a day about some kid transferring in or out of an SEC program.
