I said “all that” to point out the lack of awareness, jealousy, or PTSD (or all 3) that LSU fans suffer from when it comes to Alabama football.

It’s like Iran talking bad/down to the U.S. military.

Let’s keep laughing at the HC who beat our team 65-15 since he took over and has actually made the Playoffs and won a Playoff game when we have never been there once.

Clearly it all stems from older fans suffering under Bryant and younger fans under Saban. I really do feel sorry for some of my personal friends who are really good ppl, but act like their entire family died in the Superdome in 2011.

The 2020 NC trophy is universally accepted. The 2009, 2011, 2012 BCS trophies were different but frankly, the 2020 trophy looks just the same as the 2015 and 2017 CFP trophies, as do the AP and Coaches poll trophies officially awarded to Alabama in those years and 2020. It looks the same and carries the same weight that the 2019 LSU and the 2021 UGA trophies do. As does the SEC title trophy.

Congrats. I really don't disagree. But putting that team in the greatest team ever discussions is idiotic given how the 2020 season went down. Half empty road environments and a championship game against a six win opponent cast enough of a shadow to squash such talk

2020 Bama is absolutely one of the greatest college football teams ever to take the field. You can argue about the strength of their season given the idiocy going on in the world at the time - in some ways what they accomplished was more impressive than a standard season, but in other ways it was less, so there are arguments to be made on both sides - but in terms of how good they were in a vacuum, they're easily one of the top 5 teams of all time.

I appreciate the candid honesty. You get the standard response of “nuh-uh,” but we all know how they really would react.

I get the complaints of “greatest ever,” but I remember when someone just linked an article from a site and the sheer shitstorm it started here and how funny it was.

I know I typically shitpost some response but honestly? The argument of greatest ever is always kind of laughable to me. Does the person making the argument mean best season in comparison to competition? If so, why is 1945 Army never in the discussion?
Do they mean future NFL talent? If so, then how does one compete with 2001 Miami?

Is it utter domination of the schedule played? If so then 2019 LSU isn’t as impressive as 1908 LSU, that had one game within 8 and the next closest was a 22 point win.

Is it who you beat? 2009 Alabama beat two teams that were otherwise 26-0 back-to-back by an average of over 20 points.

I figure, honestly, that just having a team worthy of inclusion of the debate is pretty cool. Let a sportswriter with a deadline and trying to figure out who is “the greatest” while the fans will likely feel it’s any team of theirs that makes the list and if there isn’t, they’ll usually pick the one that will try and rile up their rival.

If you want an honest opinion from someone like a JMU fan or a Citadel fan, basically someone with absolutely no skin in the game.
