True, but those who can leave are leaving en masse right now.

This is false.

Do you really think UGA's WR coach is the only coach on the staff who is capable for leaving for the NFL? Don't you think Texas has a slew of coaches who could get a NFL job who are choosing to stay a Texas instead?

It's not really any different than other years.

Where?

For now. That was the case with baseball, until it wasn’t. Same for basketball. Football’s next.

Baseball is an entirely different animal, it's a worldwide sport and they've had their own developmental leagues for a long time.

As for basketball, I'd say the vast majority of NBA draftees are still coming from NCAA teams.

Don’t take my word for it…

"Never thought we'd see the day where multiple Power 5 head coaches would leave for NFL coordinator jobs, but this day and age of roster building via NIL, transfer portal, and have to re-recruit your own players every year, I get it and think it's only the beginning." - 247 Analyst Greg Biggins

"This is only the beginning. And you may as well include Harbaugh and Saban on the list of 'CFB Climate Change' decisions." - ESPN’s Matt Barrie

“College football in its current state will be seeing more and more coaches heading to the NFL. This sport is spiraling out of control.” - Kirk Herbstreit

"Yeah, I really am concerned about the number of college coaches currently leaving for the NFL.” Alabama AD Greg Byrne

A good third of first round NBA talent no longer comes from NCAA programs. The #1 pick last year and top pick mocked this year come from France. That’s all because the game expanded globally in the late 90’s/early 2000’s to do exactly what the NFL is trying to do right now. Wouldn’t you?

I just looked at the first rounds of the last three drafts:

2023
25 of 30 first round picks played CBB

2022
26 of 30 first round picks played CBB

2021
25 of 30 first round picks played CBB

No offense, but your opinions don't seem to be based in fact.

The NFL is a good 30-50 years away from a global setup like basketball had in the 90's.

There simply aren't places for potential football players in other countries to even get experience playing the game. Forget at the college level, there's aren't any equivalent teams outside the US to US high school and middle school football. There's no youth football anywhere in other countries.

Not only that, there's no real desire to build it anywhere else. Football is dangerous for participants at any level and it's expensive to put together.

While interest in watching US football could go global (and the NFL is hoping that happens), we're not going to get youth football leagues springing up in Europe. They'll stick with Soccer and basketball.

None taken & I should have looked. I just know that 3 of the current top 4 MVP candidates & likely two #1 picks in a row didn’t play CBB.

A lot of coaches will leave for the NFL with the right opportunity. It isn’t a year round job like CFB

An incoming coach (at any level) who leaves for another job before coaching a game IS a story. THe higher the level of the coach, the bigger the story. A coordinator makes it a pretty big story.

Not really. It's not a big deal at all actually. Should be less of a story because he hasn't coached anything at all.

I think Grubb never really wanted to come here for family reasons. I didn't like the way he handled the situation , leaving us in the lurch like he did. Don't take a job if you don't intend to do the job.

Just decline the offer, and go elsewhere.

Grubb didn't have the Bama heart and put Bama first in him. Hard to believe.

If they weren’t making a million + a year you could sympathize with them.
They deserve the stress, or give it up.

If that original idea is all you have, just STFU and in the future ask me before you post in one of my strings.

Even a lowbrow Barner could do better than that. We have standards here kid.

Typical but expected reply from the worst fanbase in college sports.

Take Bama out of it. You find yourself out of work and you get a job offer from someone and you really don't want to go there. They really think a lot of your work and make you a very nice offer, and should you accept are counting on you to come in and do the job to the best of your ability.

You are courting other offers that you would much rather take, and in the meantime accept the one you dont want. You go to work and the second the offer comes in that you do want, you dump the job you didn't want, leaving then in a bad spot.

I'd say that makes you a POS.
