Every single college makes exceptions in January for players picked up in the portal a week after spring classes start.

If a college wants to deny a student for whatever reason, then the fact that the deadline has passed is an easy one.

Obviously, at least 15 of the 16 SEC programs want to deny these players, and it's a really good bet that it's to maintain those last meager points that it's still an amateur sports for college students. So denying those individuals because the deadline to apply is past is an obvious option.

They can’t because of the court rulings / temporary restraining orders.

All the NCAA had to do was sit on the 5 for 5 announcement until December 2026 or have announced it in February/March 2026, before the NFL Draft.

This problem is all self-inflicted.
