100 meter. They don't run the 100 yard dash anymore. Just saying. Cause that is a slow as frick 100 yard dash.

That was a mistake on my part, I fully meant meter, yet I put yard.

Correct.

Incorrect. It is an average of 1.05 seconds for every 10 yards. Taking into account the first 10 yards are your slowest, a 10.5 in the 100 would be equivalent of approx 4.4 in the forty.

It is not, in fact, slow as frick. It is as fast as a virgin on prom night.

He played in a wishbone offense, where 2 other backs

Herschel & Bo are the two best RBs that have played in my lifetime. (Yes, I'm old)But, this is the one minor difference between the two to where I would slightly favor Herschel. He was the tailback in a traditional I-form offense and carried the load himself.

Having said that, I wouldn't mind 2nd pick...

Best Rb in the SEC that I have seen play by far is Walker. When another RB can run 5200+ plus yards in 3 seasons in the SEC we can talk. Not to mention Walker was also a 2 time All American in track. Not a bad athlete himself.

Bo on the other hand was the best athlete. Any time he touched the ball he was dangerous.

In regards to TR I disagree that he is overhyped, but I gues we will see. The last 2 years he was not given the opportunity, but this year he will be given that. So I guess we will see.

Kniles should have a great season as well, but the offense will be pass happy and he will still be a 2nd option. Lattimore I think will struggle this year because everyone knows they will make him their 1st option on offense and they do not have the line to block for him. JMO

You're not really taking all factors into account with that statement. You can't convert a 100 yard dash into a 40 yard dash. You leave out things like acceleration and time spent at top speed. A 100 meter dash is roughly 9.4 yards longer than the 100 yard dash. A good time in the hundred yard was typically in the upper 9's (high school record set in 1971 was a 9.2). Good times in high school in the 100 meter are typically a second higher.

In fact the women's world record in the 100 yard dash in 9.71 set in 2011 while running the 100 meter.

Yes a 10.5 100 yard dash is slow. A 10.5 100 meter is pretty respectable though hardly mind blowing, and you won't win a whole lot of races against top competition. That kind of time will get you 2nd or 3rd in a state meet.

frick my best time in the 400m or 440 yard dash was 55 seconds and I didn't win a whole lot of races. The other guy on my team ran a 48 flat. I was an 800m specialist and pole vaulter.

I did run track with the fastest man in the state of Alabama he held the record for the 200m in all division with a 21.1 until this year and never had any competition. Holds the 4a record with a 10.48 and that was nowhere near his best time. He ran faster at non Alabama meets when he actually had competition.

I was 7-years-old when Bo Jackson was a senior at Auburn, so I can't honestly compare him to Trent- I just don't remember much about him in college.

And Trent isn't on steroids- he's always been big.

I think when you take into consideration how big T-Rich is, you gain a little more respect for the time.

Guys much lighter, such as LaMichael James and Reggie Bush, ran the same in HS.

Is every bama fan on this board dumb as f--k?

Honestly what is it with the updykes? Do their mothers put meth in their baby formula or something?

Oh I don't dispute that Richardson is fast. That would be silly, but a 10.5 is not a fast or even good 100 yard dash time.

Oh and the guy I ran with who set all the records did play at Alabama and he was about Richardson's size, maybe a little smaller but not by much at all. If he had focused on track at UA and slimmed down to an ideal running weight I have no doubt he would have made the Olympic team, but, unfortunately, he chose football during a horrible time in Alabama's history. He was that fast.

What I was responding to was about meters, not yards.

If you plan on generalizing I'd say the same of Aubarn fans.

As to TR, I couldn't even begin to tell you if he is over hyped or not. What I can tell you is that he played behind a Heisman trophy winner the last two years. Last year neither played that well and I attribute that to the offensive line. For TR to have a great year the OL will have to step up big time.

As to the pissing match of Bo, HW, etc. I don't know how you can say one was better than the others. They were all great.

My Dad sent three players to UA in two years and about 6 total to division I schools. Not bad for a little 4a school in the middle of nowhere. Shontua Ray, Dre Fulgham, and Ray Marshal. Ray transferred out after his freshman year. He was kind of lazy. Dre did well and started at WR. Shontua was the one who set all the records in Alabama. His time in t-town was crazy with controversy and injury. He got in a fight with the running backs coach over a comment about his mother, burnt his redshirt year for one play (an end around where he lined up at receiver in a meaningless game), and due to conflicts with the RB coach found himself buried, switched to defense where he got the starting nod at SS, messed up his knee the third play of the first game, senior season he split time at the position.

Overall a disappointing college career filled with missteps and bad luck, but he got his degree and his happy with two boys that are going to be just as fast as him. He stops by to go fishing every now and again. I still say he should have gone to LSU and played under Saban. Of all the coaches I met, I liked him the most. Alabama was just in complete disarray at that time. I couldn't stand Mike DuBose.
