LSU has the best QB in the nation and probably the best WR group as well. Yet they are gonna lose 3+ games this year.

Looking at next year, they are losing Daniels and probably also losing their top 3 WRs. Those 3 WRs make up 92% of all LSU WR receiving yards.

Nussmeier seems like a decent QB, but it won’t be easy with all new receivers. It’s hard to imagine LSU won’t take a significant step back on offense, barring an absolutely insane transfer haul.

On the defensive side, I’m interested to see if LSU fires House. Either way, I expect their defense to be a little better.

As for recruiting, Kelly has been pretty underwhelming there, not bringing in Top 5 classes like Ed O did.

Looking at all of this together, it’s hard to imagine LSU won’t take a step down over the next 1-2 years. Thoughts?

Kelly will settle in and lose around 4 games per year.

Really you cant tell how Nuss will be. The guy looks like a prototypical qb and may turn out to be the next Burrows. The issue is the defense. They've got to get that turned around.

Brace yourself...here comes goofball William posting some weird pics of Ed O and Kirby, bragging about how LSU owned UGA back in the Jurassic period under the cajun lord, in
3...2...1...

Impossible to tell.

LSU always has receivers and brought in some very good receivers, tight ends, and backs in the last class.

Prior to the season, many of the posters on this board said that Nussmeier was better than Daniels.

The offensive line should be good.

2025 is shaping up to be a pretty good recruiting class, it took O a couple of years to get rolling as well and most of his better recruits didn't stick around.

I mean it's Kelly's second year. If we have a couple more years of the same, we can have this conversation.

Kirby got his arse beat a few times before he started winning championships.

He’s like 20 — fragile at that young age.

This. Not worried about the offensive skill players departing. The cupboard is stacked there.

The real issue is not just fixing the defense but finding the Jimmys and Joes to fix it with. Recruiting of the defensive backfield and defensive line has been underwhelming. Kelly had great success in year one hitting on portal players but this year’s portal haul has been a letdown. He did what he had to do to fill out the roster but he even he knew that wasn’t a sustainable model for long-term success. Still, it doesn’t excuse the recruiting misses on the defensive side of the ball. It’s imperative for this program that the defensive assessment that’s coming this offseason be focused on pulling in and developing high school talent and not just gambling on portal players shaking out

LSU is always stacked with WRs, and we only lose 2 not top 3 guys. I doubt Lacy (the #3 guy) becomes the #1 next year anyways. We've recruited plenty of guys to step up at WR.

Nuss has been waiting in the wings for a while and has played some good ball when given the chance, he wont be Daniels but he should be very good and shouldnt take long to get acclimated considering he's throwing to all the guys he does in practice every day and been with us for 3 years already and with the same offensive OC for last 2 seasons now.

The question is what will the defense do, we could lose a TD a game on offense and only need the defense to be decent and could win a lot more games.

I doubt you're going to see any dropoff from 10-4/9-3 ish the past 2 seasons at all, Kelly is a winner and he's been building and building us.

As for:

The 2024 class isnt over yet and we're still in the Top 10 as it stands between both On3 (8) and 247 (10). Ed O's Top 5 classes never lasted here, we had 38 scholarship players on board by the time Kelly got here. It's great to recruit well, but if you lose half of them before their 3rd year than what good is that? Kelly is building up the program to be more sustainable and will have some top 5 classes down the road. But LSU has never recruited at the Top 5 level consistently and still won 3 nattys in the last 2 decades so it's not like it's a prerequisite to have big year.

Yet he hasn’t lost more than two games since his first year. Not really the same as regularly having 4-loss seasons is it?

Isn’t Lacy a redshirt senior?

Yes. LSU has gotten soft. Hard to change that mentality once it sets in unless you change coaches. And, BK ain’t going anywhere for a long time.

you made that joe burrow meme? a georgia fan?

2018 Average Joe destroyed #2 UGA 36-16, then 2019 Big Dick Joe embarrassed #4 UGA 37-10 in a game the cemented his heisman...and then you made that?

even 4 years later, those are still some sweet tears

My point is that the program got better than it was year 1-2. Oh and didn't Georgia lose 3 games in Kirby's 3rd year (2018)? First 5 years for Kirby, he averaged 2.8 losses a year. Did that stay the same?
